I want to reach through
history,
through plagues and
war
to caress his cheek
and mend his sores.
I would've loved him
if it weren't for
the centuries of deadness
blocking the door.
time stretches on
but I can't forget
how it felt for
him back then.
sunlight in his hair
and words in
his heart.
we're not so different
even lifetimes apart.
through rises and falls
through peace and brawls
would our hands be kept in place?
wrapped around one another,
made right for each other,
does the past seal
or embrace?
