Most believed that I was born wary, scared of strangers and the like, but that wasn't the case. Young girls were never born to be wary, born looking over their shoulders and locking themselves inside their room. It was the product of the world around them, of the circumstances of others. We were born wary because of an innate fear from a young age that we would be killed inside an arena before we had reached our adult years.

Everyone prayed that it would never be there, condemning someone else's chid to be killed in an arena and I had thought the gods were answering my prayers, until I turned sixteen and then, the odds fell out of my favour and I was shipped to the Capitol. There, I was twisted, moulded and forced to become something that I never thought I could be.

I was one of the few who returned, my parents some of the lucky ones that kept a child, though I'm not sure that I could even be considered a child anymore. Maybe something else, for that innocence was long since gone.

After that, I wasn't wary anymore. I was just traumatised.
