After her family witnesses a gruesome murder while out celebrating her twenty-fifth birthday, Allison Bishop must follow the rules of the federal Witness Security Program and leave her life behind. Once her family has moved to the countryside, having changed her name as well as her physical appearance, she struggles to accept this new life that has been suddenly forced upon her. Through bouts of frustration as well as unwanted flashbacks from the night of the murder, Allison finds herself in a state of depression and mental turmoil. Her feelings of devastation escalate when Felix, the robust bodyguard that has been assigned to protect the Bishop family, arrives at her doorstep with a commanding tone and a bad attitude. Their personalities immediately clash, but Allison finds it hard to ignore her feelings of curiosity and admiration toward him, no matter how hard she tries to push those feelings aside.
