I was stunned by his response. What business was it of his who I dated or not? He had been a serial playboy his whole life, and I honestly couldn't care less.

"What's your problem with who I kiss or not?" He rough his hair and immediately uttered exactly what I want to hear.

"I didn't mean to say that, I'm sorry" He said, and started to leave. But before he could get out the door, I remembered Ashley's request.

"Wait, Travis." I called out. "There's something I need to ask you." He turned to face me.

"You remember my friend right? Ashley?"

"Yeah?" He replied casually.

My friend Ashley wanted to have a sleepover at your place this weekend." I said and I could feel Travis raising an eyebrow. "A sleepover?"

I shrugged, feeling a little embarrassed. "Yeah, she said she wanted to hang out and that this place was the perfect spot. I'll just tell her no"

"I don't see why not, I'm sure we can make it work. Just let me know the day you guys choose exactly" Travis said with a smile.

"Thanks, Travis. I really appreciate it," I said, feeling a wave of relief as my phone beeped that moment. I couldn't help but smile when I saw the text was from Kyle.

"I'm in the library and bored without you," the message read.

I typed out a quick reply, "I'm heading over now, just had something to care of" I totally forgot about Travis standing in front of me.

"Seems my purpose here is done" His voice brought me back and I tried to say sorry but he already left.

Kyle send another text but I ignore it and call Ashely to break the news to her.

"Let's meet at the library baby bitch, we've got some updates, you in?" Ashley said over the phone.

"Sure. I was just heading there, I've something to tell you too"

"Wow, see you soon then" I hang up and head to my room to wash up, stepping out of the shower I met Travis standing in my room holding a framed photo of us as kids.

He must have taken if off the wall.

"Hey, what are you doing here?" I asked, a little surprised to see him again. Travis gave me a sheepish smile.

"I don't know, I guess I just miss the old days, when we were close and shared everything."
I laughed and shook my head. "We're still close, you're just being silly."

But then he gave me this intense look, like he was looking right through me, and the silence stretched on.

"Do you mind if I put some clothes on?" I asked, gesturing to the towel that was the only thing covering me.

Travis blinked, as if he was suddenly coming back to the present moment. "Oh, uh, sure," he said, turning his back to me.

"I'll just be outside." I breathed a sigh of relief. It was a little weird that he wanted to stay in the room while I changed, I couldn't help but wonder what had come over him. Maybe he was just being polite, but I couldn't shake the feeling that something was off.

I quickly dressed and stepped out of the room. I made it to the town library in record time and spotted Ashley and Molly sitting in our usual spot.

I joined them, but couldn't help but discreetly search for Kyle. He was nowhere to be seen.

"What's up, guys?" I asked, trying to act normal.

"Nothing much." Ashley replied, giving me a knowing look.

"How was your time with this your new eye catch?" Molly questioned.

"Molly!" Ashley snapped, giving Molly an eye roll.

"You guys knew?" I was surprised.

"Don't mind Molly. Chris happen to bump into you and the guy when he came here yesterday, he told Molly about it and that's how we know" Ashley said.

I felt my cheeks flush and tried to play it cool. "It was fine." I said, hoping they wouldn't ask for any more details. But of course, they didn't let it go.

"I didn't know Chris was back in town?" I injected trying to switch the topic to something else. I just hope they stop asking about Kyle or my heart might just explode in a minute.

"Yeah. He kinda got back last weekend, sorry I didn't tell you" Molly face change. Chris is her twin brother and for some reason they don't get along and she hates talking about him.

It wasn't that they didn't talk, but they had a major falling out last summer that neither Ashley nor I knew the details of.

I was sure that she would tell us about it someday, but until then, we were left to wonder what had happened.

Ashley and I chatted about our summer plans,and I broke the news of Travis agreeing to the sleepover Ashely propose.

"Oh my goodness, thank you so much Luna! This really meant a lot to me." Ashely literally threw her hands around me and hugged me tight.

"Are you that happy?" Molly let out a scoffs.

"You wouldn't understand Molly. Let's go shopping for bikinis after this, I want something revealing, that was Travis won't be able to get his eyes of me" Ashely stated dreamingly.

"Your wish." Molly laugh and I somewhat join her in laughing.

I was sure Travis is gonna have Tiffany around that same night but I decided not to tell.

"Are you guys mocking me?" Ashely face fell in disappointment.

"Forget about Molly, Ash. I've a perfect mall to direct you to if you need those bikinis" I told her.

"What about you?"

"I have more than enough at home." I reply.

"I can change into yours if we have to swim right?" I nodded to Molly's request.

"You're the best." Molly winked at me and I turn ri see Ashley already searching up where to get the bikini on her phone.

"I've to use the bathroom guys." I lied, I knew it that I've to look for Kyle. But why isn't he anyway? Was he kidding when he said he was here earlier.

I pulled out my phone and saw that I had missed a text from him. "Sorry, something came up, I'll catch you another time." the text read.

I felt like a complete idiot for missing his message. I returned to my friends, but the fun had fizzled out of the afternoon.

"I've got to go, guys" I told them, and we all hugged goodbye. I walked home,feeling dejected and disappointed.

Why had Kyle canceled our plans?
