Episode 1.2 : The Trail

Immediately, the female Fosts swarmed Gemma, grabbing and pulling her from all sides. They struck her and spat at her, the fury of their anger consuming the air. Gemma's mother attempted to intervene, but she too was restrained by the angry mob of female Fosts.

Dragging Gemma outside the village, they intended to stone her to death. Fear gripped Gemma's heart as she heard her mother pleading for her life in the background.

Amidst the chaos, Gemma's little sister, Gem, screamed her name, piercing Gemma's heart with a deeper sense of fear. The female Rens threatened to harm Gem and their mother if they didn't remain silent.

"Mom, please stay quiet and take care of Gem. I'm so sorry," Gemma pleaded, tears streaming down her face.

She then shouted to Gem, "Be silent, or they'll kill you and mom!"

Hence, Gem and their mother remained silent, fearing the dire consequences.

Once outside the camp, the female Fosts bound Gemma's hands. Moments later, one of the older female Fosts declared Gemma's sentence.

"Gemma, you are sentenced to death for blaspheming against our old traditions, which are the cornerstone of our civilization. Without them, we wither; with them, we thrive. May the great spirits of the forest have mercy on you. Any final words?"

"As the daughter of my father, the martyr Gemstar, do I not deserve a fair trial? Should I not be defended by the renowned counsels of old?" Gemma responded.

The old female Fosts swiftly rejected her plea, stating that this was a dispute among females and thus her sentence was justified. They began the countdown, signaling the upcoming

Meanwhile, Gemma closed her eyes, pleading with the great spirits of the forest for her soul. Suddenly, she heard the voice of the Grand Male Leader of the Rens who had returned from the hunt.

"Stop this! What is happening here? Why is the daughter of the martyr Gemstar tied to a tree and sentenced to death without a trial by the renowned council of old?"

The female Fosts attempted to justify their actions to the Great Leader, but he dismissed them, ordering Gemma to be placed in a holding cell awaiting her trial.

Feeling a sense of relief, Gemma knew her ordeal was far from over. However, at least now she had the opportunity to bid a proper farewell to her mother and little sister.

So, they untied Gemma and placed her in a small jail container, lifting it above the ground.

Hence, Gemma found herself suspended above the ground, exposed for all other Rens to see. Immediately, both female and male Fosts began to call out her name, branding her as blasphemous and guilty.

Among them, the older female Fost who had initiated the trouble at the soup scoffed, "You wished to be as strong as a hunter? Then break free yourself. You sought adventure, and now you have it."

Gemma was pained by the harsh words of her fellow Fosts. Whereas they had once been polite to her, their true feelings now emerged. Even those of her own age, whom she had once called friends, now hurled insults at her.

To compound matters, some of her supposed friends began to spit and insult her mother and little sister. Enraged, Gemma shouted for them to stop.

However, her outburst only fueled the anger of the male Fosts. They deemed her actions, while awaiting trial for blasphemy, to be even more blasphemous.

Consequently, the Great Leader decreed that Gemma's mother and little sister would be confined in their own suspended jail container, awaiting the trial for the generations of blasphemy alongside Gemma, all three to faceing a joint sentence of DEATH!
