"Gemma, you don't know what you're saying. You're just coming out of shock. You nearly suffocated and died," Michael reassured her.
But Gemma persisted, her voice trembling with emotion. "I saw it. The great spirits of the forest showed me. I saw the great leader putting my father's clothes in this cave while he mumbled. Why did you make me do this?"

Michael chose not to engage with Gemma's accusation and instead suggested they stay for the night and leave in the morning to avoid encountering the Scors that roamed the forest at night near the border of their territory.
Gemma insisted they head to the neighboring Fost community across the border, emphasizing the urgent need to warn them about the impending danger. However, Michael expressed reservations, reminding her of the strict peace treaty among the three Fost communities, which forbade crossing borders unless accompanied by the great leader.
Despite the risks, Gemma argued that it was a matter of life and death, and they had to inform the other community before it was too late. She speculated that some of their fellow Fosts might have already fled in that direction.
With no better plan in sight, Michael agreed to Gemma's proposal, and they decided to head to the community closest to them. Gemma rested for a while but woke to find Michael lost in thought. Curious, she asked him what was on his mind.
He explained how he regretted not spending more time with his mother and little sister due to his community work. This led him to inquire about Gemma's relationship with her own family.
With a heavy heart, Gemma recounted the disconnect between her and her mother, who wished for her to adhere to traditional Fost roles. Her dreams and passions were often dismissed as blasphemous or delusional, leading to minimal communication between them, especially after her father's passing.

When Michael asked about Gemma's father, a smile flickered across her face through her tears. She described him as her everything.
As Gemma's thoughts turned to her little sister, Michael hesitated to inquire further, fearing it might prompt her to return to the village in search of her.
Suddenly, Gemma heard her name being called. Startled, she turned to Michael, who hadn't heard anything. Concerned, he checked her leg injury, asking if feeling was returning.
"Gemma, come back to the village," the voice called again. Gemma demanded to know who it was, but Michael urged her to stay silent to avoid detection.
Then, silence fell, broken only by the voice saying, "Your little sister is alive." Gemma felt like she was losing her mind until she saw a vision of her sister in a chamber surrounded by people in white suits.

The voice assured her that her sister was safe and urged her to return to the village. But Gemma explained she was paralyzed. Suddenly, a shadow loomed before her, belonging to a man in a black suit with authority. He looked Gemma straight in the eyes and then ordered someone to find her in the cave and bring her back alive, while killing the boy!
