Anyone who's read about autism knows autistic and other neurodivergent people have sensory sensitivities. We live in a neurodivergent-unfriendly sensory environment. Loud noise, fluorescent lights, and uncomfortable dress codes are everywhere. Neurodivergent people need to self-advocate- others don't experience the same issues. But many may hesitate to complain because they've been dismissed so often. People need to listen rather than wait for the neurodivergent person to be overwhelmed. The "norm" is ignoring sensory issues that affect millions.
