on the way, just for shits and giggles, I decided to pick up a newspaper.
I paid the man selling them, and I picked one up.
I read through the personals
then I saw the code.
from mum.
I asked for the men's pencils and worked through the cipher
"Meet me Royal Academy five tonight Mother." Well, that's unexpected. I thanked the man and walked on
okay a few thoughts.
One is that Mother wouldn't have signed "Mother," but "Chrysanthemum."
And two, the Royal Academy is an institution that has consistently neglected to include women.
Mother wouldn't have suggested it as a meeting place. And my final thought is that I may have revealed my hand in front of my brother when checking the newspaper.
I chuckled lightly.
This is Sherlock Holmes's doing.
third-person pov:
"I'd like her to be my ward. I'll take care of her." Sherlock smiled
"Well...on your head be it. I washed my hands of her." Mycroft replied
"Very well. All the better."
"You are a strange fish, little brother."
"And you're a cantankerous one, older brother. I assume you're being so delightful because of the vote?" Sherlock chuckled
"Passed by one. That reemerging little toadstool, the Marquess of Tewkesbury, and his vote proved decisive."
"He's an interesting character, you know?" Sherlock interrupted "And I suspect he's rather keen
on young Jo."
"Then he should marry her-" Sherlock interrupted once again
"there's this other boy who likes her as well, she just has no clue" Mycroft lightly gasped
"who?"
"Benny's boy"
"Briggs?!" Mycroft smiled "Maybe it'll tame them. Drink at the club to commiserate me?"
"Yes, I'll buy you a drink, Mycroft." Sherlock walked behind Mycroft, looking around for Jo.
beforehand, she put her Astrology book on a bench to see if he had seen it.
and he did so.
he walked to the book, picked it up, and chuckled
