"same old lonely town"

This place
is pretty much
the same lonely town
since you left
same streets
same parks
same boulevards
I still chase all
the footprints you left
though I know
they lead me
nowhere but a
dead end
Our paths
that used to
intertwine
have become
two totally separate
worlds
Yet I still hear
the sound of your
laughter
and I still smile at
the ghost of your
jokes
Then I realize that
maybe it isn't
this town that's lonely
but my heart
that's still out
in the cold
My heart that
still hopes in the
impossible
no matter how
many times its been
told
that the past is in
the past
and is buried-
and that hoping will do
me no good
