Author's POV

Nirmaan lay next to Subi, after flipping off the lights, while Subi was sleeping or pretending to sleep with her back facing him.

All the day's events were running through his mind. With his left arm tucked between his head and pillow, and his other hand on his chest, he was looking at the ceiling, lost in his thoughts.

He was feeling at peace, feeling content knowing there was someone who belonged to him. Someone's happiness belonged to him, and the same went for him.

He knew it was not going to be easy, for a man who never shared a single thing, let alone his whole life.

Nirmaan was a man of few words, rude, arrogant, and cold. Well, that might be true for the world, but not for his loved ones. In all 28 years of his being, he never really had a single serious relationship.

Yeah, he sure had his fair share of flings here and there in his early college days, but he soon realized his priorities and made his sole focus his career, which resulted in his immense success and running a successful business empire in India. From real estate to hotel business, and one of the most selling luxury ethnic fashion brands in India, and a lingerie brand. Don't ask why?

He had it all set, but never had that peace of mind which he was feeling right now, lying next to his wife.

Subi might not know this, but their connection wasn't only through this marriage proposal, which was proposed just a week ago.

His chain of thoughts broke when he felt something snaked around his torso. He looked down to find his Subi, wrapping him in her arms, snuggling her face in his chest.

At first, he didn't move, as much as he was liking it, he didn't want her to feel uncomfortable when she wakes up. So, he tried to remove her hand, but it was of no use. She tightened her grip and scrunched her face, making a disapproving sound like a child, which made him chuckle.

He let it be, putting his arm around her shoulder. He closed his eyes, letting sleep take him in, when he again felt something - Subi's leg on his stomach, followed by another one.

"Gosh... This girl sleeps like a child," a smile formed on his lips unknowingly. Closing his eyes, he tried sleeping and finally drifted into a comfortable slumber.

----------

Light peeked through the window and onto Subi's face. She purred in her sleep, putting her head under the pillow. When she heard the noise of running water, she emerged from under her pillow, rubbing her eyes, and realized where she was.

Nirmaan was taking a shower.

She shuffled through the sheets, looking for her phone, and checked the time. "Oh no, Subi, you're so stupid, it's already 7:45, and you're still sleeping like a goblin! I set an alarm, but it didn't ring," she thought to herself. "Silly girl, stop overthinking and get up!" her subconscious taunted.

Without wasting another second, she jumped out of bed and straight to the closet. Only to find a very handsome man in his black pants, with water droplets falling from his disheveled hair. He turned to pick his shirt, and she came out of her ogling session, turning around to show her back.

He moved his eyes up from his shirt just in time to see his wife had been staring a second ago. With a smirk, he started moving towards her. "Don't be shy, my wife, look as much as you want, I'm all yours."

She shook her head in negative, "First, you wear a shirt." "Biwi ?" he said sternly, but she didn't budge. "Don't worry, I'm already wearing a shirt. You can turn."

She turned, and thankfully, he was wearing his shirt. "Weren't you in the washroom? How did you get here, and I didn't see you coming out?"

He pointed his finger towards the door inside the closet. "There's a door inside as well." She looked, thought, and huffed. "What's wrong?" he asked, looking at her reaction.

"This room has so many doors, it feels like a labyrinth!" she said with a pout.

He chuckled at her cute statement. "Okay, now get ready, Maa must be waiting for us. I'll be in the room."

Hearing that, she remembered why she had rushed in. Brushing past him, she ran to her suitcase to grab a change of clothes. But, in her haste, she forgot that she hadn't locked it, and the contents spilled all over the floor, making an even bigger mess and adding to her lateness. To make matters worse, her red lingerie dress was on top of the pile, when it should have been at the bottom.

Before Nirmaan could come closer to help, she hid the lingerie behind her back, her face flushing with embarrassment. She was pretty sure he must have seen it.

But when he didn't say anything and instead silently helped her gather her clothes, she thought she might have been mistaken. But before leaving he made a statement that confirmed her doubt, "Whispers with Red, quite interesting." She didn't even breath, until he closed the door behind.

Finally, he left, and Subi rushed towards the bathroom for a quick shower. She then returned to the closet to change into a simple yet elegant red organza saree.

She quickly did her hair, applied moisturizer, kajal, and her signature red lipstick, which matched her saree perfectly. She wasn't a fan of heavy makeup, opting to keep it simple and only doing what was necessary.

Just as she was about to apply sindoor from her vermillion box, a thought occurred to her.

She entered the room, her hesitant steps taking her a few feet away from Nirmaan, who was engrossed in his phone, sitting on the bed. He looked up, his gaze locking onto Subi, who seemed to want to say something but couldn't quite bring herself to say it out loud.

"Kya hua? Kuch chahiye?" (Do you want something?), he asked, standing up and taking a step closer to her. She nodded her head in response. "Hmm? Tell me?" he prompted, but she remained silent.

Without saying another word, she extended her palms from behind her back, holding the beautiful vermillion box. Nirmaan's gaze fell upon the box, but he didn't react, instead turning his attention back to his phone, his left hand slipping into his pocket. When Subi looked up, she felt a pang of pain in her heart.

Feeling rejected, she turned to leave, but a strong grip stopped her, holding her wrist. She was pulled back, colliding with his muscular chest. She looked up, meeting his intense gaze. "So...sorr...Sorry," she stuttered, tears welling up in her eyes.

Nirmaan took the sindoor dani from her hand, holding her chin with his index finger and thumb. "Aaj kar raha hu, agli baar tab aana jab haq se bologi na ki request karne. HAQ HAI TUMHARA, JATANA SEEKHO" (Today is the last time I'm fulfilling your request. Next time, I'll do it only when you say it with conviction, IT'S YOUR RIGHT, LEARN TO CLAIM IT), he said, filling her hairline with sindoor. He then kissed her forehead and wrapped her in a warm hug, hiding her inside his arms.

Subi felt as if she could soar through the clouds, her heart full of joy. She may not have reciprocated the hug, but Nirmaan knew she needed time to open up.

Their intimate moment was interrupted by a knock on the door and the sound outside. Subi turned looking confused as why their are noises outside while Nirmaan very well knew what was going to happen. He rolled his eyes and went to open the door.
