Aaron's POV:

The weekend passed in a blur of homework, extra studying and long lectures from my parents. Basically, a normal boring weekend which has me looking forward for Monday.

I walk into the school building and the first person I see is Keon and he does not look happy.

"Keon", I rush over to him. "How is Quinn?"

"Oh so you know huh?", he says angrily as he slams his locker door shut. "That stupid redhead promised to take care of her and I was stupid enough to think that pretty girls don't lie."

Pretty? Did Keon just call a girl pretty?

I look at him and he turns red. "Anyhow, I don't think she's pretty anymore, not after what happened. They're all the same, looking for a new victim to torture."

We start to walk towards class, even though we are early.

"Marcus was also to blame", I put in, mentioning the guy who had pushed her into the swimming pool.

"Yeah I know", Keon says, a dangerous look on his face. "He better hope I don't see him or else he'll find out that I'm not as quiet as he thinks."

Keon is in his angry state, and when he is angry he is dangerous, so I hope, for Marcus' sake that he and Keon don't come in contact with each other.

Just as we are about to enter the class, I spot Kayla from a distance. Our eyes meet and she runs up to me. Keon glares at her and enters the class without another word.

"Did I do something wrong?", she asks and I shrug.

"He's just really angry about what happened to Quinn"

"But I didn't do anything...", she starts to protest, but I stop her

"The truth is you've done similar things to a lot of people. Probably without knowing", I hastily add as she begins to defend herself. "The point is that he believes that people like you only exist to torture others and that Quinn was simply a target."

Most of what I said is true, but I'm not just expressing Keon's opinions – I'm also expressing mine.

"I guess I can understand where he is coming from", Kayla says, after a moment. "He used to be bullied a lot, probably by Jason and his friends, and he's right about me too. But I'm not like that anymore. You have to believe me.", she says, her huge green eyes looking up earnestly at me, twinkling in the lights of the corridor. I can't help but notice how gorgeous she is, even though she is breaking all the dress codes of the uniform as she always does.

"I believe you", I say, putting my hands on her shoulders. And then, I can't help myself. I lean in and kiss her. Her eyes widen for a second before she kisses me back. I drag my fingers through her hair as she relaxes into me more.

"Get a room will you", a voice says from behind her, causing us to break apart. We turn around to find Jason glaring at us.

"I think I have the right to kiss my girlfriend, Jason.", I say as I try to control my breathing. "And as class captain, I have to warn you to make your way to your class immediately. You're getting late."

As if to prove my point, the first period bell rings at that very moment.

Jason growls at us.

"Run along now Jason", Kayla calls out, and he shoots her a glare before walking in the direction opposite from us.

"That was some fast thinking", Kayla says as she turns to me. "You must have seen him from a distance before you kissed me."

"What? Oh yeah, right.", I laugh nervously, hoping it sounds genuine. "That's why I have glasses you know, to spot danger before it's too late", I say, pushing them up.
