destiny aggressively chews on the gum in her mouth as she walks alongside nick, adora, and ruben in the school hallways on the way to lunch.
they just finished with fifth period—the last class before their lunch shift—when nick passed by adora, destiny, and ruben getting things from their lockers in the junior hallway. the group all then began making their way to the cafeteria.
destiny can't seem to focus on anything her friends are saying at all though. she's too busy thinking about how this is the most stupid she's ever felt in her life. he meant what he said about that only being practice? he wants to go back to normal? he considers how he acted towards her this morning their normal behavior? she's actually nauseous.
she can't believe she let herself give into her old habit of daydreaming of a possible life with him again so easily. they were both vulnerable, and she fell victim to his charm just like any other girl he's ever been with, and she expected more from it than he did just like any other girl he's ever been with. she's exactly like the rest.
