Is Therianthropy the Same as a Furry?

This is a commonly asked question, but no, a therian is not the same as a furry. Therianthropy is an identity, and it is something you can not choose, get rid of, or change. However, "furry" is a fandom, which includes anyone who enjoys the art of anthropomorphic animals(animals shown or described as having human-like features). Some furries dress in specialized outfits called fursuits, hence the nickname "fursuiters."

Though not all therians are furries, some therians can also be furries.

I myself have a fursona, though I am not myself a fursuiter. There is no limit to what you can enjoy or identify as.

Are Therians a Part of the LGBTQIA+ Community?

Not necessarily. Though many therians are part of the queer community, we are very against being considered as a sexuality or gender identity. Much like furries, not all therians are queer, but just because we're therians doesn't mean we can't be a lil' fruity, too.

Are Therians Zoophiles?

No. Just, no. Therianthropy, like I've already said, is an identity. A zoophile is someone with a romantic and often sexual attraction to animals(or a specific type of animal).

To conclude chapter one, not all therians share the same experience, and not just in the areas mentioned here. The way you experience therianthropy is almost always different from nearly everyone else. Some therians have experienced past lives, while some have a more spiritual connection to therianthropy. Even then, there are many other types of therians that we will delve into more later.
