Black bats flew across her face.
'Go away!'.
'It's okay. I'm Paddy Blanchard'.
'Amy Gordon'.
'I think a girl shouldn't come alone'.
'Mom took me to Blanchard Hall. I'm not a sorority girl who is "easy"'.
'No, I'm glad to greet new students'.
'You're a guard?'.
'Sort of. At Midnight, the blood gushes', Paddy said.
'An old saying'.
'Old vampiric story', Paddy said.
'Are you a vampire?'.
'Guilty', Paddy smiled.
'I'm single'.
'My ex-wife, Celeste, passed away'.
'I'm sorry. I'm not a vampire'.
'It's going to rain. Let's go inside Blanchard Hall'.

'Sybil'.
'What do you want, Paddy?', the vampire asked.
'This girl is Amy. She isn't one of us', Paddy answered.
'It's raining'.
'I know'.
'Amy, this is Sybil. My sister. She will take care of you at the dorm'.
'Okay, Paddy. Goodbye!'.
'Goodbye!'.

A black goblet was on the dark wood table.
'Drink up, Amy', Sybil said.
'It's blood'.
'Not coffee'.
'No'.
'I'm not a vampire'.
'Drink'.
It was an order.
Amy drank.

'Is she alive?', Paddy asked Sybil.
'Oh...'.
'Amy!'.
'I'm...sick'.
'It's not good. She is a hybrid now'.
'Hybrid'.
'Humans don't drink our blood. Amy did'.
'Sybil. Amy was cold from the rain'.
'Amy'.
But Amy was shivering---then she fainted.

'First time drinking blood'.
'Yes'.
'I'm the nurse at Blanchard Hall'.
