AS THE AFTERNOON LIGHT GENTLY FILTERED THROUGH THE CURTAINS, I found myself awakening to an empty space beside me. Yet, a lingering sense of warmth and comfort enveloped me, as if someone had been there protecting me as I slept peacefully. It was a curious sensation, one that I couldn't quite explain, but it brought a sense of solace to my restless mind.
I knew that Paige Bueckers, the talented basketball player whom I admired, was most likely already up and gone, preparing for her dreaded basketball practice. Unlike her, I had to forego attending practice today and yesterday at the behest of Coach Geno. The looming game tomorrow weighed heavily on my mind, adding to the stress that already burdened me. The mere thought of checking my phone for updates or distractions seemed unbearable in the midst of my anxiety.
Moreover, the specter of impending tests cast a shadow over my thoughts, reminding me of the urgent need for preparation. A study session with my diligent classmate, Daijah, was scheduled for 2:45 pm, and glancing at the alarm clock revealed that it was already 1:24 pm. Time was slipping away, and I needed to seize the opportunity to connect with my loved ones before delving into the realm of academia.
