Chapter 1: The Truth
As I turned to my best friend, I saw her worried and symphatized face. Her dark brown eyes connected with mine. She smiled.
"If all else fail, I'll still be here to help you out."
I nodded. I turned to the big oak door and gave a hard knock. I waited. I knocked again since there was no answer. I heard some noises behind the door. I waited again, nervously.
The door swung open and there stood an old lady. She smiled and asked, "Yes dearies. How can I help you?"
"Hi. I'm a friend of your son. Can I speak to you?"
She scanned me up and down. Then she nodded and open the gate to let us in. "Please come in. Have a seat."
I looked around the big yet cozy house.
There was a big family photo on the wall. I watched the happy family which consist of the parents with 2 teenage boys and 2 little girls. The girls were identical twins - heart shaped face with long curly hair and big wide smile. One of the boys had short hair which was highlighted in red, wearing a black top and jeans. While the other had a decent smart look with glasses and white shirt and brown pants. But despite the geeky look, he was indeed the handsome one.
As I sat on the big plushy couch, I watched the lady went in the kitchen while she adjusted her green hijab. She must be making some drinks for us as I heard the sound of glass and water running. She came back holding a tray. There were two tall glass of ice lemon tea and a plate of cake slices.
After putting the tray on the table, she sat on a chair facing us. She smiled. Her smile makes me more nervous as I am positive that smile will dissappear once I open my mouth.
"I'm pregnant with Iman's child."
As I predicted she went into shock. Her eyes went wide and her mouth hanging. She put a hand on her chest as she trembled for words.
"No.. I.. I don't believe you."
