I followed Cade down the hall and waited for him to say something. Everywhere inside me told me to turn back, but my heart told me to keep walking. I couldn't trust this boy. He caused Hazel to betray me, he created some kind of bond that kept me tied to him unwillingly, yet I craved his presence. He took away the most important things in my life, but compared to him, they were nothing. I loved the feeling I got when I was around him, like I was warm inside. Nothing can replace that. Suddenly, Cade stopped.

"Sam?" He asks quietly.

"What?" I ask awaiting a threat to appear.

"Do you feel that?" He asks turning to face me.

Just as these words escaped his mouth, a numbness clawed at my fingertips and toes. Immediately it began growing and by the time I could react my entire limbs were numb.

"Cade?" I ask trying with every muscle in my body to stay calm.

"It's okay, just stay calm." Cade says.

"Apparently my power works on human bodies too." Chase says appearing around the corner.

"Let her go." Cade orders.

"I think I'm the one in the position to be shouting orders." Chase sarcastically says focusing hard on Cade.

"Chase." I say in disbelief.

"What?" He demands.

"What the hell is wrong with you?" Cade exclaims with anger.

"Shut up!" Chase orders as Cade falls to the ground.

"Chase what's going on?" I ask gently trying to keep my cool.

"What's going on? Are you kidding me?" He chuckles.

A plan begins to form in my thoughts as I realize what is happening.

"Remember Ash's little outburst? Well, you see, I threatened to kill Hazel if he didn't. Of course Hazel refused, which is exactly why I said I would kill you if she didn't." He hissed at me.

The air in my chest disappeared. I gasped for air as my body reacted to this shock.

"Chase, how could you?" I ask melodramatically.

As I say this, I watch as Hazel appears in the hallway.

"You're the prophecy, you'll come back to life. It's him I want dead, but the only way to get to him is through you." Chase demands.

"You...ignorant little-"Cade stammers trying to fight whatever magic Chase was using.

"Cade stop! Chase has been training since the second grade, there's no way u can beat him." I demand as my stance becomes weary.

Cade's face was turning red. Chase was pressurizing his chest.

"You should be more like her." Chase jokes as Hazel gets in closer.

Cade was on the ground now barely taking in oxygen.

"I'm surprised." I quickly snap making sure Chase's focus stayed on us so Hazel could sneak in from behind.

"About?" Chase demands starring me down.

"That you were intelligent enough to think this whole thing up yourself." I bark at him.

"Well, it wasn't all me. I had some help from someone here actually. Luckily she dislikes Cade as much as I do." Chase snaps.

Suddenly Chase turns and extends his arm towards Hazel. She falls to the ground unconscious.
