"But why?"
"My little one, we feed on happiness to stay alive, that's just what we do."
"But what if I didn't want to? Then what will happen?" He said questioning further.
"It's simple, you wither away to dust, as if you were the sand that blew across the desert." She motioned waves with her hands.
"So... I would die?" The son asked slightly confused with her words.
His mother gave him a weird look. "You're not planning on not consuming human happiness, are you?"
"So what if I am."
