"Holy nerdvana," Tayla said when the elevator doors slid open to the server floor. It was another surprise change from the original schematics Mylar had found. Their server room was no longer a narrow closet in the corner of the first floor. It now took up the entire eighth floor.

She stepped into the frigid room, marveling at the ceiling high towers spreading out in multiple rows. Gaps between the towers were barely big enough for a person to walk through. Red and blue blinked in a rhythmic dance from within the charcoal colored towers, adding to the mesmerizing allure of the server room.

"Okay Tayla, you should be alone for at least twenty minutes before the next technician comes to check on the servers. The computers are in the far right corner; use them to connect to the servers."

Tayla dragged a hand along the wire mesh protecting the softly humming machines. She couldn't imagine the amount of information stored within those beasts, and part of her hated the idea of erasing them all. There could be useful ammunition against the Pharmaceutical Companies, information to destroy them.

"Shit. Goddamn it."

Tayla stopped walking and touched a hand to her earpiece. "What is it, Mylar?"

A sigh followed a loud slam on the other end before Mylar responded, "I'm locked out."

"What do you mean?"

"I mean I lost you. The video feed, my connection to the computers, everything. Someone cut me off. They know you're there. I don't know how they know or how much time you have before the alarms sound, but they know."

Tayla looked back the elevator. The lights above the doors signaling their use were void of illuminating color. She looked back to where she was heading. The edge of a desk stood out through the maze of servers. It wasn't far, mere feet away, but if someone locked Mylar out what chance did she have?

"What do you want to do, Corin?" Ash's voice came through the earpiece.

Tayla touched her ear again. "I can still try to get through to the servers. Maybe my ability can withstand any counter hacking?"

"If they know we're here, we're screwed already," Ash said. "Might as well go out with a bang."

Corin grunted through the earpiece. "Agreed. Tayla, do what you can there and I'll try to get to you. Ash, free as many Supers as you can and let's raise some hell."

"All right you pansies, time to put on your big boy undies, it's burning time!" Ash chortled. "If you believe in God, start praying now."

Tayla winced at the loud explosion in her ear, followed by more cackles from Ash. Alarms pierced through the server room, joining with the chaos in ears. Lights in the server room turned off, replaced by flashing emergency strobes in the corners of the room.

"Still there, Mylar?"

"Always, baby girl. I might not be able to help with the hacking, but I can get those voices out of your head." The sounds of the fighting diminished until they were gone. "I'll turn it back on if Corin or Ash need you. Now focus on your task. The fighting will buy you time, they won't worry about the servers, but you still won't have much."
