Chapter 5 - A Sudden Space (惊现空间)

Jing Yunzhao glanced at that pair of old and young and smiled cynically before walking away from them.

"Where are you going?!" Qiao Weimin said angrily, gripping her arm tightly.

"You want me to drink it, right? Then I'll drink it!" Jing Yunzhao said coldly as she shook Qiao Weimin's hand off. She walked back to her room and looked at the bowl of cold porridge before swallowing everything in one gulp. 

An upset stomach wouldn't kill her. Even if she were to feel sick on Monday, she'll take the test no matter what.

"What an unlikable temperament. You really need to be beaten every day!" Qiao Weimin said, satisfied. He looked at her and then went back to the couch to continue watching his TV. Qiao Hongye, however, walked towards her, an apologetic look on her face. But before she could even enter the room, Jing Yunzhao had already slammed the door in her face and locked it.

Jing Yunzhao's body was shaking and her eyes were fogged with hatred.

She was too weak. Not to mention revenge, she couldn't even protect herself.

Jing Yunzhao sighed. She sat on her bed and pulled out the jade pendant hanging on her neck.

This had been with her since she was little. The design was a simple gourd and below the gourd was the word "Jing." The jade looked as if it had been through quite a few years.

This jade should've been taken by the Qiao's long time ago. But she later heard from Qiao Hongye that the fortune-teller had told her that jades contain spirituality. A jade that's been with her for years can help fend off evil even more. If she were to lose it, rather than fending off evil for Qiao Hongye and Qiao Zizhou, it would be more likely to bring evil to those around her.

If it weren't for the words of that fortune-teller, the jade pendant would probably have been pawned by Ye Qin and Qiao Weimin long time ago.

Jing Yunzhao looked at the pendant, almost in a daze. She had always had some questions about her biological parents. As she thought about this, she couldn't help but laugh at herself.

If her biological parents really cared about her, they wouldn't have thrown her away.

Just when she slid the pendant back into her clothes, Jing Yunzhao felt a sudden pain in her head. It felt as if something was about to explode. She held her head tightly, but the pain soon disappeared.

She raised her head, only to lay eyes on a scenery different from before.

"Where am I?!" Jing Yunzhao said, panicking.

She was surrounded by a heavy fog. There was an old-looking well beside her. In fact, it seemed almost ancient. Next to this well was a dragon statue. A string of blue-colored water was flowing from its mouth. It seemed like the water flowing out of the statue was water from the well.

"I've waited for so many years. Finally, an heir has appeared..." In the midst of emptiness, an old man's voice rang out. Jing Yunzhao's heart jumped. "Who's there?!"

"No need to be frightened, little girl. Turn the wheel of the stone table behind you and you will be able to see me," said the old man. 

Even though Jing Yunzhao was anxious, this voice sounded so kind and so soothing. She didn't know why, but she felt a sense of familiarity towards that strange space.

For some reason, she began walking towards that stone table. The table was not very big and was rather ordinary except for its strange engraving. At the center of the table was indeed a turn-able wheel. Jing Yunzhao breathed in sharply before reaching out her hand to turn it.

She only saw a faint figure appear from the wheel, but even that was enough to make her jump.

Despite the fact that the figure looked otherworldly, he seemed affable, "Mister, you are..."

"If you were able to enter this space in the jade, then you must be my descendant, a descendant of Jing. Little girl, what is your name?" the old man asked after he observed Jing Yunzhao.
