Chapter 3

Still on flashback

The following day, the Tijo family woke up to the grave news of Noori calling of the wedding without giving them a tangible reason,

Her Dad went ahead to call Abbas dad to ask if anything happened, because he was told she went to the house yesterday

But Abbas dad couldn't answer, he knew Noori didn't want her family to know, so instead he handed the phone to Abbas who so ashamed to speak, instead he said,

"Daddy, we just had a misunderstanding that's all"

"Abbas, i can sense this is more than just misunderstanding, she is very very hurt" her Dad calmly said

"Daddy am so so sorry, please ask her, what happened, i can't really say",

After the calls with no information, he sent for Noori, and excused everyone from the sitting room leaving them alone

"Noori.. Gaya min, tell me what really happened, we are talking about four months to your wedding all families and friends of ours have being informed, atleast i need to know the reason why am agreeing to calling of the wedding"

"He is getting married to someone in a month" she sadly said as tears welled up in her eyes

"That is impossible, that can't happen"

"Even if his dad asked him to, because some girl is pregnant for him" she asked and the tears fell down her cheek

"Maybe, this is a sign, that he isn't the man for me, maybe our marriage isnt suppose to be" she continued in a teary voice

Her Dad kept quite as he watches his daughter, he wishes he could just whisk away her pains, he hates seeing her getting hurt

"Are you sure of your decision" he finally asked and she nodded

"You stopped loving him" he asked

"No Dad, i still love him, but in reality love doesn't conquer all, there is trust and respect and Abbas breached the two, am done" and as she said those words she stood up and left,

He knew this time around his daughter will take a long time for she heals.

The very next day, her Dad sent two of his friends who served as his Waliyyi, he sent them to Abbas family with the kudin aure and other money brought to his family as tradition demands,

And that very evening five of her Aunties were sent to Abbas family with the boxes and other gifts Noori was already buying as Abbas gives her the money, to be presented as her dowry (Lefe).

Noori has already set to work on shutting her heart to the pleadings of anyone including Abbas and she was now preparing to go for her Msc outside the country,

The plan was for her to go for it in the same university she finished from after the wedding, but since there was no wedding, she saw no reason for her to not go abroad for it, which her father welcomed the decision.

For almost a month now, Noori refused to pick Abbas calls, see him or reply his messages, none of his family member called her on his behalf, which she was glad, the only ones that called her were his so called friends, which she politely told to stop calling her.

Today being a sunday as per her father's orders, she visited Abbas family to inform them on her journey to the US for her Msc degree.
