Just when I was starting to wonder "huh when will the Watty's awards be announced," Wattpad delivers. Guidelines for the 2024 Watty's were posted today. Who's submitting this year?

I've missed a lot.

I have been away from Wattpad quite a bit lately. On top of a lot of personal challenges (got stupidly ill while on a business trip, a relative passed, etc.), I got some dissappointing writing news a couple months ago (tl;dr: a potential publication got axed) and have honestly been in a deep trench of writer's block since. I know rejection is an all too common part of the process, but it still stung. So I am trying real dang hard to claw my way up and out of the trench.

A big thanks to everyone who has been reading my books lately. For both the first and second (or third? or fourth?) times!

On top of all the other nonsense the universe has thrown my way lately, I have realized that my Wattpad app is a bit screwy. I'm not receiving any push notifications and no matter what I do to my settings or how many times I uninstall/reinstall, nothing fixes it. Shrug. So, sincere apologies for all the comments or likes or follows I may have missed in the past few months! I'll do my best to catch up. I really do appreciate every one of you!

Happy Valentine's Day, my darlings! What better a day to revisit the second chapter in Greg and Isla's story: Doubull Indemnity.

It's Valentine's Day in Philadelphia, and our favorite former criminal necromancer turned (kind of? Sort of?) Private Eye-la refuses to spend it alone.

When a certain workaholic vampire (kind of boss? Sort of fling?) simply won't take the hint, Isla resorts to drastic measures.

          Calling her horny ex.

          The "Bites Twice" Mysteries

This book contains mature sexual content.

@Another_Blurryface To each their own! It's been fun seeing everyone's choices compared to my own.

Alrighty, Tumblr seems to be having fun with this poll so I'll post it here too.

For my fellow writers, misfortune has befallen you and you must choose! Would you rather...

          1. be forced to write every 1st draft by hand
          2. forever lose ideas if you don't jot them down within 5 minutes of thinking of them
          3. totally lose a completed first draft of a manuscript in a saving error
          4. have your parents read and offer genuine critique to everything you write
          5. type exactly 4 words per minute; this doesn't include thinking time, you're typing speed is 4 word per minute regardless of how inspired/not inspired you are
          6. always be interrupted midway through an inspiring blast of productivity
          7. have a more popular writer publish a story with a similar premise to yours 1st
          8. be unable to use "said/says" anywhere in your work

@MissLollyGag I never leave home without a way to take notes!

2. Because that’s me already. I have my mobile notes open all the time with countless ideas, which otherwise would have been forgotten.

@AHopelessNecromantic Being interrupted in the middle of a productive streak really sets me back, and it's quite difficult for me to find that productiveness again after that. And I used to write everything by hand, but it starts making my hands ache and I get a sore spot on my finger from the pen.

I am going to make a request for what it is worth. Can you write a novel that tells the story of Dimitri? From his mortal days and into his vampire existence on up until the time of The Vampire Always Bites Twice. I love his character and I would bet there is more behind him than is readily apparent. He is obviously out of his time. But it would be something to see him back centuries ago.

I know that is a big request. But if it's something you never plan on doing than maybe I could write it. But I would only do so with the aid of the author. I suspect there are things I don't know or would not think of that are crucial to the telling of Dimitri's story. I would need to be aided in that way. But of course I'd not approach that project without the blessing of the author.

Well just throwing that out there. None of it necessarily will come to be. I'm not even sure if the author will see this. But I did love TVABT a lot! It was one of the best novels I think I've ever read. Hit my pallate just right.

@JessieLakes Thank you for reading! I'm so glad this book quenched your thirst. But The Bites Twice series is far from over. You'll see Dmitri again, eventually!

Someone I've only just found a blog post about the 2022 Watty's that says: "This year’s grand prize winners were the vampire noir novel The Vampire Always Bites Twice, written by A Hopeless Necromaniac. Yeah, wow yikes THAT'S not an embarrassing typo for me at all.
