Alyne de Winter

I am an award winning poet and author of many short stories and novels in the Gothic Mystery and Paranormal Romance genres. For many years I was in the Theater as an actress, dancer and choreographer of early historical dances for the stage.I was lead singer in a Celtic Folk band. My love of folk ballads and fairy tales drew me, theatrically, toward Shakespeare and the ancient, primal tragedies of Greece. These are also my inspiration for Tales.

I have been writing since I was 8 years old and I have been aware of my ability to tap into the Collective Unconscious for almost as long. Putting my otherworldly visions into artwork was easy, poetry was easy, but using my strange adventures for stories was my true desire. I just couldn't come up with plots. It wasn't until I moved to England and began communing with its many layers of history and ancient spirits of the land, that I began writing a novel about a wolf girl called Rose  I'm not done with her yet and plan to revisit this novel, Rosewolf, soon.

Reading British authors like  Angela Carter and Tanith Lee showed me how to use my gift for lush, sensuous language effectively in stories of Gothic Passion and Suspense. My deep knowledge of religions and folk traditions infuse my tales with many layers of meaning and discovery as my protagonists struggle to find the truth behind good and evil, and understand what lies beyond the veil. My tales are Romantic in the old sense, not of formula Romance, but in the emotional and darkly erotic way they are told. My fans are True Romantics with a Gothic sensibility.
