I'm back after the long weekend! My nephews came to visit on Sunday and my Monday was spent projecting (I'm learning to sew). Starting my day late today because I had autonomic testing this morning (I had to wait 13 months for this round of testing, so it felt like a milestone just getting to this point).

          I've added the character portraits for the last two chapters of Starling. This adventure for Captain Starling has come to a close, but Starling will return! I've outlined the next book and started writing. I'm currently taking a break from it to get my next book ready for publishing on Amazon, but I'll come back to this story soon.

I wanted to do something fun for the community here, on Wattpad, so last month I started a recurring series of Flash Fiction Contests! The genre and type of flash fiction will change each month and all are invited to participate. May's theme is 280-Word Romance!
          
          I've assembled all the information into a book, here: https://www.wattpad.com/story/367151827-flash-fiction-contests. This will also be where I house the archive of winners, future contests, etc. 
          
          First, second, and third place stories will be featured on announced here on Wattpad AND will be featured on Underground Bookshelf, a platform that I created to celebrate diversity in literature and as a resource for people in need of more diverse literature.
          
          I'm excited by the idea of hosting this series on Wattpad and I hope it works. I've never tried anything like this before, so I'm not even sure if it will be of interest to folks here, but I'm hoping it is a way for us all to celebrate each other as writers, to enjoy one another's work, and explore new stories, writers and genres that we might not otherwise engage with.
          
          I can't wait to see what you create!

Hi there! Hopefully, we've all heard by now that Wattpad is removing the direct messaging feature from the platform. You can still reach me through conversations or in comments to my stories -- I'm not planning to leave Wattpad anytime soon, just adapting to the ways this platform is changing.

I post some stories on that platform, but am also using it as a way to chat more informally with other writers/readers. I'll also host flash fiction/poetry contests through my page on that platform as well, in case that interests you.
