You know when you sit down to write but just can't? Well, at least I poured my creative juices into redesigning some of my covers between baby babbles, feeding, and naptimes. Cover gods must be smiling at me today because I redesigned IN STRANGE COMPANY, updated CHARMING MR STEWART, and completely redid LOVE BOUND. I think I'm in love with the LOVE BOUND cover. Might be my best work yet (thanks to Canva!). What do you think? https://www.wattpad.com/story/257266209-love-bound-1-wings-ya-fantasy-comedy

What a beautiful Friday! The ONC Longlist came out in the middle of the night for me and I woke up to a bunch of notifications from friends congratulating me. I'm happy to announce, STONE 2 STONE, my Medusa, futuristic/dystopian adaptation made it on the long list this year, along with other incredible stories from my friends. If you're into retellings, psychological thrillers, or detective stories, you might like S2S, in which case, here is the link. https://www.wattpad.com/story/361894299-stone-2-stone-onc-2024 But, that's not all, if you're after great ONC recommendations, be sure to check out the following longlisters among some others. They are the ones I've read, started reading, or are on my list to check out: - LOVE, DAD, by @EvelynHail - CHIMERA, by @empiresofwater - LOST IN SHADOWS, by @WinterSleep85 - PARASITE, by @pixelmum - BETWEEN, by @SallyMason1 - THE ESCAPED CON'S HOSTAGE, by @annkreeves - MISS OTIS REGRETS, by @MarCafeWrites - WYATT'S MAGICAL WARDROBE, @shellzels - DEAR CITLALI, by @melisandescott - THE BIRD PEOPLE, by @WendyyWolfe - BAGUETTE RHYMES WITH DEAD, by @bigfivedonaldduckfan - CAN'T GET YOU OUT OF MY HEAD, by @itsmeimthevampire - PAIGE BYRNE NEEDS A VACATION, by @KesariCat - SIKANDER, DON'T DIE, by @Shivran86 - SAL, BUTTER AND PEPPER, by @GandalfofspaceAnli And congratulations to all ONC 2024 Longlistees! Thank you @DarkFantasyReads for adding THE EXILES to two awesome reading lists! Really appreciate it. Can’t wait for some of your readers to discover it. https://www.wattpad.com/story/300348949-the-exiles
It’s Asian and Pacific Islander Stories celebration this month, and since many people keep forgetting I’m Asian, living in Pacific Islands, I thought I’d bang my own drums today (even if I’m fairly invisible here.) I’m a proud Nepali. I write stories I love, and recently, I’ve decided I’m done whitewashing my characters just to be accepted/seen. Going forward (since last year), I’ve resolved to only write my main characters as diverse people with at least one of them being Nepali. This journey for me started with one of my most favourite books I’ve ever written, THE MYSTERIOUS DISAPPEARANCE OF DEVI DHUNGEL. It’s a cosy mystery and romcom married together, and I got to write a fun duo, Devi and Hector. It takes place in a small, fictional Aussie country town. (Why Australia? Well, that’s because this coin is my home now.) I’d be chuffed if more people read it/tried it out: https://www.wattpad.com/story/317966916-the-mysterious-disappearance-of-devi-dhungel And for a fully Nepali story, try my (ongoing) contemporary romance/romcom blend, PLACES WE WILL GO (on my profile). I’ll resume this story in a few weeks. Thanks for now. ❤️
Hi everyone, I'm currently trying to do a quick edit of STONE 2 STONE before I submit to Round 3 of the ONC, which means, I've had to tweak the last two 'Her' chapters a little so that they aren't confusing (Her 9) or to enhance the creepiness and leave an open ending (Her 10). It's a minor change in Her(9) where I establish whose POV it is early on (thanks to feedback from @bigfivedonaldduckfan). Thanks, AJ, for that feedback. Her(10) has undergone a little more change so that it conveys the scene how I wanted it, and is no longer a complete mirror of the opening chapter. If you read it again, I'd love to know whether you liked the changes. TYSM. And all the best to everyone heading into Round 3! https://www.wattpad.com/story/361894299-stone-2-stone-onc-2024
Phew! What a day. Until yesterday, I was doubtful I would ever finish my story this ONC. And today, I don't know where I got the inspiration and the motivation from, but I hammered out the last two chapters and the epilogue. (Thank goodness the bub slept for couple of hours during the day!) I was a fun story to write (I'm sure I say this about every story I write!) but it was a thrilling new thing to explore and experiment with. Now, to clean up what I can and submit before the deadline! (I got this, right?!) https://www.wattpad.com/myworks/361894299-stone-2-stone-onc-2024
@empiresofwater Thank you! I hope you'll enjoy the ending (and that it makes sense!)
@Kaiddance thank you! I'm glad to be done. Now just have to fix up what I can and submit. :)
Hi all, I hope this morning finds you all in good health and mood. I don’t know if many of you are romcom readers/writers, but I’ve started a personal project where I vow to study as many romcoms as I can (book/movies/tv) to learn from them — so I can improve my own romcom game. I’m currently busy turning my 2020 Romance Watty winning book, for June, into a full fledged romcom, complete with meddling Ama and twin sister, and a host of awkward moments between Jun who is now a completely different person from the original — all thanks to wonderful feedback from all of you and some agents who were kind enough to give me personalised feedback. I wanted to share my blog with you all incase you want to read what I’ve been up to outside if Wattpad, and want to follow me for progress on the romcom rewrite. You can subscribe to the blog! I promise not to spam you. For my first post, I break down Ali Hazelwood’s ‘Love, Theoretically’— a much loved and hyped about STEMinist romcom by a neuroscientist! Here’s the link: https://evacharya.com/2024/04/17/bare-bones-of-a-classic-romcom-love-theoretically/ Hope you enjoy and feel free to give me feedback.
I don’t know about you, but one of the most nail biting chapters I’ve written to date was the one I just posted for STONE 2 STONE! It’s getting tense. Reina was so close to her son. What will happen next? Read to find out. https://www.wattpad.com/story/361894299-stone-2-stone-onc-2024
Do you like myths? Do you like retellings/reimaginings? Me too! I've previously adapted fairytales but never myths, so this is my first time and I'm having fun (and hope you are too). STONE 2 STONE is a Medusa reimagining anchored in a crime novella and it's two reads away from 1k! it's a small milestone, but a milestone nonetheless. The story has now crossed 24k words and I'm slowly but surely starting to wrap this novella up. I have no idea what word count I'll end up on, but I assume there are about 4-5 chapters left. Can I get it done by April end? I'm sure going to try. https://www.wattpad.com/story/361894299-stone-2-stone-onc-2024
