Let the tour begin // Chapter 21

~ Niall's eyes

January 10th 2021, the begining of the Nice To Meet Ya tour. It was three in the fucking morning and I was tired as hell. This night we were heading to America, we would be staying in L.A until the 15th in which we would start travelling all over the States, we would then head to Central America, South America and the tour would finally finish in Europe. I was pretty sure that it was gonna be weird to have Athena on the tour, but I don't regret having her as the opening act, she deserves it.

Athena's sister, Anna, would be the tour photographer, her work was approved by Richard and I was quite shocked that he gave her the job considering that this would be her first time doing it. Nevertheless, I was happy for her.

I was sure the tour was going to be awkward, but maybe spending so much time together with each other could help me make up for my mistakes. I tried going to her college graduation but I didn't have the courage to show up. I knew I shouldn't have ended everything like that, I knew it, but I couldn't do anything about it, but if I could go back and change the past, and be a little brave that I had, I would definitely do things differently.

The black van stopped in front of the very familiar building in which that particular girl that keeps occupying my thoughts lives.

The two sisters exited the building in what would rather seem a lazily way, I couldn't blame them, it was three in the fucking morning. Athena had her hair up in a bun, which surprised me because I knew how she hated having her hair up. She was wearing a long sleeve blue shirt which had a little bit of cleavage, on top of that shirt she had an oversized black zip-up, her legs were covered in a pair of grey trackies and to pair everything up she had some white sneakers. Anna was wearing an oversized grey hoodie, black leggings, and white sneakers just like her younger sister. Their things were packed in the trunk and they both parted different ways

Athena greeted the body guards and I couldn't help but admire the fact that even if she was tired as hell she would still be polite.

"Hey" she greeted once she entered the car

"Hey" I answered

I was shocked that she even decided to speak to me, but again, even if she hated me she would still be polite.

"Where's Anna?" I asked

"Management says that crew and singers go in separate cars, we can't do anything about it" she lazily replied while avoiding eye contact

"Oh" Was the only word that left my mouth

That was the only conversation we had during the car ride. Athena had fallen asleep snuggled against the car door and I had been staring at her during the whole ride. It pained me knowing that I let her go, it made me regret all my choices.

After almost an hour we finally arrived at the airport. The place was mobbed with fans and I couldn't help but feel sorry for the people that were here to travel in a normal way. It's three in the morning, how the fuck are there more that a hundred people here?

"Holy shit that's a lot of people" Athena whispered

"I know, just try to keep your head down and don't panic" I told her attempting to calm her down a bit

She just nodded and waited patiently until the bodyguards opened the door. All of a sudden the only thing you could hear were camera flashes and fans screaming. I could feel Athena shaking beside me and I had to stop myself from holding her hand, because I couldn't, paparazzi were here and I couldn't risk it all.

The screams were growing louder and louder by each moment we continued to spend outside.

After struggling to get through the crowd we finally got into the airport and I released a breath I didn't know I was holding. Without even knowing what happened Athena ran back to the door and opened it, body guards were standing beside her and the fans weren't close since there was a kind of ribbon separating the crowd and the actual airport.

"I'm so sorry that we can't stay here and talk to all of you! I really wish we could! Thank you for your support, we love you!" She yelled

Her voice was barely audible at first because of the screams, but in the moment that she started talking the screams deceased and weren't that loud.

The crowd erupted into screams when she finished her sentence and ran back to us. Things like 'we love you Ath!' And 'You are the best!' were heard even when the door was closed.

"That was very nice of you" I softly told her

"Thank you" She softly responded

After checking out and waiting for our jet to be ready, we were finally boarding the plane. I could tell that Ath was upset because I knew she was afraid of heights.

Even though Anna was boarding the same plane as us, I knew they wouldn't be sitting together because I had heard them arguing earlier about how Anna wanted to sit in the back of the plane and Athena wanted to sit in the front.

We were finally all settled and I found a nice spot near the window in the front. Athena was near, not beside me, but near. I could sense the panic in her eyes and I was already thinking ways in which I could help her calm down if she panicked during the trip.

The plane took off and it was very calm at first, no turbulence at all and the London lights looked beautiful from the sky.

I tried to take a nap since I was quite tired, it was now four am and my eyes couldn't stay open, that was until I heard quiet sobs.

I didn't even doubt getting up and heading to the place I knew the cries were coming from.

"Ath" I softly told her but I didn't get any response so I sat beside her

"Ath look at me please" I pleaded

"I can't, I'm scared" She whispered

"Okay, I need you to take deep breaths. I assure you nothing is going to happen, I promise"

She shook her head while tears continued to stream down her face

"Hey, look at the window" I told her while signaling the little plane window

"I know you're scared of heights, but doesn't London look really nice from here?" She now nodded and I smiled "Let's try to see if we can spot something from here"

She laughed "We can't see anything from here Niall, we are too high to tell things apart"

"Oh shush, just try"

"Um, that's the park?" She asked way more calmly now

"It is! Good job" And finally we locked eyes

"Ath..." I whispered

"Yeah?"

"Why do you hate me?"

She didn't answer at first, she just continued looking into my eyes

"Because hating doesn't bring any broken hearts..." She softly answered
