ANTH - Can We Please Go Back

Someone shakes my arm and whispers, "Farren, wake up" I open my eyes and see Caelum staring at me. I rub my eyes and groan.

The events of last night invade my memory, and my cheeks flush with embarrassment. I want to hide in a hole and stay there forever.

Stupid, stupid Farren!!

"I'm sorry about last night; I wasn't myself and didn't want to do what I did, but I couldn't stop myself and-" his chuckle ends my rambling.

"I understand it wasn't your fault, and I apologize for yelling at you"

"I'm sorry once more," I say awkwardly.

"You have nothing to be sorry for, so get dressed immediately. I'm hoping to get the snowflake today " he declares.

After he exits the room, I enter the bathroom. I shower and change into a pair of white pants and a maroon long-sleeved shirt, I lift my head and look in the mirror, the scar on my neck would be noticeable if my hair was pinned up. My thoughts wander to the night of the ball. Why did the man want to kill me? How did he get through the border crossings? He would've been caught and killed and why would a wolf have a magical dagger?

This is where the dagger came from. Kenna mentioned that some witches live on the isle but where exactly do they live? Caelum isn't going to allow me just march up to them, so I'll have to think of a means to communicate with them. I need to know why. Why me?

I grab my phone from the bathroom counter and look for Kenna's contact information. She gave it to me the same day she explained the cut and told me to call if I needed anything. Pressing on call, I put the phone to my ear, and the phone rings three times before her voice comes through.

"Hello"

"Hey, Kenna. It's Farren"

"Oh, hey. Is something wrong?" she asks

"Uh, no. I'm on the isle with Caelum, we're staying at some underwater place"

The line goes silent and then she speaks "Farren, please be careful. Serena is... deceitful at times"

"I know. Caelum warned me"

"Did you get the snowflake?"

"No, not as yet, but I need a favor"

"I'm listening"

"You said there are witches on the isle. Where do they stay?"

I hear a sigh on the other side "They tried to kill you and you want to approach them"

"I need to know. I need to know why"

"I can tell you, but how are you going to get past Caelum?"

"I don't know as yet"

"Okay, look. The isle is split into four sections. Those who live in water, among mountains, in forests, or on broad fields. The forests are freezing at first, and by that I mean there is snow everywhere. The broad meadows are a lot warmer while the mountains are covered with lava and snow. I lived near the mountains, which is where the coven of witches who use that form of magic reside; but, getting there requires crossing fields and passing through the forest. In your predicament, you must first seek a way out of the water; mermaids watch and stand at the entrance to each opening," she explains

"Do you have a piece of paper near you?" she asks

I look around the bathroom; there's plainly no paper here. "Give me a second," I say as I open the door and check around; he's still gone. I rummage through drawers and cupboards until I locate a piece of paper and a pencil "All right, I've got one," I reply
