by the next afternoon, news broke out that there was a fight between dallas and connor.

you felt so frustrated. you hadn't had a break in weeks.
you wish everything would be peaceful again.
no feud between the two.
just you and dallas.

those were your happiest days.

dallas kept coming by your house, it became an everyday thing.
you would talk to him but then you would tell him to go home.

you two tried working out your relationship, but you were still hurt.
you didn't like connor, but dallas took it too far.

it was the week before senior prom now.
did you plan on going? no.
not after your mom died. it was supposed to be special between you two.

she would do your hair and makeup with you would gossip about who likes who.

your mother never got to see your big day.
you even had a dress that would go to waste by sitting in your closet. it's been there for months.

you can't bring yourself to look at it anymore. you've only seen it a few times.

your brother pushed you to go, he didn't go to his prom and he regretted it.
you would just ignore it any time he would bring it up.

next friday was prom. you stood at your locker getting ready to leave, for home.
connor stopped you.

he tapped your shoulder.
"hey, uh. y/n..do you maybe wanna go to prom with me?" he asked.

you stopped in your tracks, turning to face him. staring at him for a few seconds.
"sorry, connor. no." you answered then walked away.

dallas caught you two, overhearing the conversation, and laughed to himself.
he had planned on askin you.
though, he was certain you would reject him again.

as you stood outside, dallas came up beside you.
at first, he didn't say anything, but you knew it was him.

"no prom?" he asked.

you nodded. "no prom"

you sighed, seeing your brother approaching in the distance
"i'll see ya later dal. tell the gang i said hi"
you smiled and waved him goodbye.

dallas had just left the hospital with ponyboy.
they visited johnny and made sure he was doing okay.
on the way back to pony's house, they were a striking conversation.

"you goin to prom, dally?" pony asked.

dallas shrugged.
"i been thinkin bout it. don't know if y/n would go with me or not"

ponyboy looked at him.
"you should ask her"

dallas nodded.
he wanted to go with you. maybe in a way the two of you could make up. fix it.

by the time they arrived back at the curtis' house, it was close to dark.
dallas decided to hang around a bit before visiting your house.

"so, dal, who's the girl?" sodapop brought up.

his heart skipped a beat, maybe pony told them.
even two-but laughed.
"a gal?" he asked.

dallas smirked, he nodded.
"y/n" he answered the gang all looked at each other.
the name was familiar, pony used to talk about you a lot.
"i've heard she's real purdy" steve spoke up.

Dallas gave him a side-eye.
he didn't like anyone talking about you like that, he wanted you to be his so bad. the thought of you being with anyone else hurt.
