ISABELLA RIVERA had wished for the God in the sky to lend her his pity since she was four years old. The lab that claimed most of her life was her own purgatory. If there was a God, he hated her. As she sat in the cold pews, begging for a moment of peace, Isabella realized that the Father did not adore her. She was not his Child.

The body entered hers and it burned holes through her chest. It dug itself into her subconscious. The grave she'd dug for herself at nine was fresh. Her body was able to fit, the blood of Christ drowning her.

She could kick and scream as her hand extended out of the Blood filled grave, but no one would come. She is alone.

MILES MORALES rested in the pews of the churches his Mother dragged him too. The cool and smooth wood of the thrones around him reminded him of a cruel castle. For when he came, he felt he was at the mercy of a God that long since abandoned his timeline.

But he saw her. Her hair, her eyes, her lips. She was God. His God. The way her body knelt to pay her respects made him feel like the Holy Spirit had enveloped his soul.

Miles could worship her if he so pleased. Lend her his prayers for a moment of her time. She was God and he was nothing but a disciple of her word. Her voice as she gave grace sending shivers down his spine.

He could listen to her sermons for ages, tracing the lines of her face in the stained glass windows around him. Her curves the alter for which he would hum the hymns in her bible. To Miles, she is everything. He isn't alone.

this fic contains religious imagery

this fic contains religious imagery. i vaguely based this on that speech clay puppington does during nature part one to orel. i was watching moral orel when i drafted this. though i write isabella to believe in the catholic depiction of god, rather than the christian god like orel does.

warnings for this fic are as follows: underage smoking, religious imagery, good ol catholic guilt, underage drinking, mentions of sexual assault, child experimentation, emotional abuse, phsyical abuse, emotional abuse, undiagnosed mental illness (ptsd, depression, panic attacks), & ableism

🕷️ im not sure if miles was catholic in the comics but its a personal head canon of mine!

🕷️ (slaps this fic) this bad boy can fit  so much religious trauma in it

spidersonas are so fun so i created archnae!!! she's like the spider woman of earth-42. which means i get to teehee ha ha my way through this fic. this takes place during into the spider verse, with flashbacks back to her earth. the layout of this fic is different than my usual layout for a reason! hopefully it makes sense to the reader
