It was also a rainy night, with lightning, thunder, and violent storms.

Gu Mingnan was soaked to the skin and shivering in the rain. He looked around and found that he was walking towards the grain depot.

"You're here." A familiar voice pulled him behind the straw pile with one hand.

Gu Mingnan looked up and saw Wang Mazi.

He frowned and wanted to leave. He didn't understand why he had to brave the rain to find Wang Mazi in the middle of the night. He had promised that his eldest brother would not get along with Wang Mazi.

Big brother?

Gu Mingnan felt that he seemed to have forgotten something.

Seeing that he was dumbfounded, Wang Mazi impatiently urged: "Whether you want to do it or not, just tell me, if you don't do it, get out of here."

Gu Mingnan heard himself gritting his teeth and replying: "Do it."

Wang Mazi was then satisfied: "I put medicine in the water in the grain depot. When he falls asleep, you go and steal it, and I will help you keep watch outside."

Gu Mingnan stared in the direction of the grain warehouse, and his stomach suddenly growled.

He felt very hungry and his stomach was burning, as if he hadn't had a full meal in a long time.

Wang Mazi smiled sarcastically and threw him a piece of sweet potato contemptuously: "I said your eldest brother is a waste. If your wife dies, you will have to live. If this continues, your whole family will starve to death."

After speaking, he patted Gu Mingnan on the shoulder and said, "Don't worry, if you follow my uncle, you won't be hungry."

Gu Mingnan lowered his head and finished the sweet potatoes in three gulps. He wiped his mouth and found that his arms were extremely thin, with only a layer of skin and bones left.

He shouldn't be like this, Gu Mingnan thought, but the feeling of hunger in his belly made him lose the ability to think.

He said in a sullen voice: "We agreed that we would only do it this once."

Wang Mazi looked at him with a smile: "What? Are you scared?"

Gu Mingnan lowered his head: "It's illegal to steal things."

Wang Mazi snorted coldly and looked at him sideways: "Then do you want to do it or not."

Gu Mingnan stared in the direction of the grain depot: "But I can't let my two nephews starve to death."

"Hey, that's right. You can sneak in quietly later. We only need the confiscated grain on the ground and steal it before leaving. They can't find so much grain and they can't even notice it."

Time passed bit by bit, and slight snoring came from the direction of the grain depot.

Wang Mazi pushed Gu Mingnan: "You are fast asleep. Go quickly."

Gu Mingnan hesitated for a moment, then gritted his teeth and rushed over.

A wave of anxiety and worry surged into his heart, and he wanted to tell himself to stop, but he watched helplessly as the much thinner half-grown boy in the dream rushed into the grain depot.

After being caught stealing food, Wang Mazi ran away first when he heard the noise. The panicked young man ran away desperately.

More and more people were chasing him. Gu Mingnan was breathing heavily, his heart aching. He wanted to find a way out in the rainy night.
