John Brown was seriously wounded. He was tried quickly and found guilty of murder, inciting slave insurrection and treason against the state of Virginia.

Upon his sentence, Brown said, "If it is deemed necessary, that I forfeit my life for the furtherance of the ends of justice..." Fast forward to, "-I submit so let it be done!"
