At an event when the life cycle of stars as well as our sun was being discussed
[ Thought that if humans are sat here discussing the Sun, with the huge difference in timebetween each existence, what would be the equivalent if a human lived for 100 yearsand bacteria inside them were discussing the life cycle of their host]
Humans at a meting discussing the life cycle of the sun
Humans live on average 100 years [lots of rounding up/down here]
The Sun will live / exist for an average of 10 billion years
So if bacteria living inside a human were discussing how long their host would last
and the human lived for 100 years
Then the equivalent time for each 100 year generation of bacteria would be 30-32 seconds
So if sun 10 billion years was re-set to a 100 years
Then a human equivalent life span [of 100 human years] would be 30 - 32 seconds
Therefore from the point of view of the Sun, how long ago did events occur
To work out the equivalent time
You divide by 100 So remove two zeros
then divide by 2
For example
The pyramids were built 5,000 years ago
5000 divide by 100 = 50Then divide by 2 = 25
So to the Sun [who is living for 100 years]
It is the equivalent of watching the pyramids being built 25 minutes ago
Last Glacial Maximum
20,000 years ago
20,000 divide by 100 = 200
200 divided by 2 is 100
100 minutes is 1 hour 40 min
So the height of the last ice age would have been 1 hour 40 minutes ago to the Sun
Recognisable Humans
Recognisable humans turn up 500,000 years ago
500,000 divide by 100 = 5,000
divide by 2 leaves 2,500 minutes
41 and a half hours
Humans turn up 1 day 18 hours ago from Sun point of view
End of the Dinosaurs
End of the dinosaurs 65 million years ago
65,000,000 divided by 100 leaves 650,000
divided by 2 leaves 325,000 minutes ago
1 day = 1,440 minutes
226 days (rounding up)
ave 30 days in a month
So to the Sun the dinosaurs died out 7 and a half months ago
Evolution of Life
Cambrian Explosion
Life in its varios forms really got going aprox 500 million years ago
divide by 100 leaves 5 million
divide by 2 leaves 2 half million minutes
1736 days (rounding down)
365 - 1 year
730 - 2 years
1095 - 3 years
1460 - 4 years
4 years 276 days
4 years 9 and a half months ago
Is when life really started to take off on planet earth
4 years 10 months ago from the Sun point of view
.
Note
When was at the astronomy event, and had the sudden thought
That humans discussing the life cycle of a star would be in the same way comparable to the bacteria inside us, having a discussion about their human host living for 100 years
Suspected that no one else in the lecture hall was probably having the same thought process
