Summer Fling

The sun's out and the air's hot,
It is summer, and a glistening drops of sweat,
Our arms intertwine and hands clasp together,
Walking side to side on a dusty road.

Exchanging smiles and laughter, I beam;
For it feels like a spring as my feelings bloom,
Birds chirp just a melody in my ears,
I see no one but you.

The scorning heat's prickling my skin,
Droplets rolling down to your cheeks,
Wet strands sticking to my face,
Yet, our hands remain bound together.

The warmth of your palm, and the stubborn sun,
Swells my heart in longing; wishing; hoping,
This summer will not end, so
You and I can pretend a little more.
