Chapter 1: Pizza

As Emily and her mom Veronica stepped into their new apartment, Emily couldn't help but let out an exaggerated sigh, her eyes scanning the room with mock skepticism.

"Welcome to our humble abode, Em," Veronica said with a warm smile, her voice tinged with excitement.

Emily rolled her eyes playfully. "Ah, yes, our kingdom of cardboard boxes and mismatched furniture. Truly, we live in luxury," she looks around the room skeptically.

Veronica chuckled, shaking her head fondly. "You know, sarcasm is a sign of intelligence, young lady."

"Guess I'm a genius, then," Emily replied with a wink, earning a laugh from her mom.

"So, what's our first order of business in this palace of wonders?" Emily asked, pretending to inspect a particularly questionable lamp.

Veronica smiled, her eyes twinkling with amusement. "How about we order some pizza and christen this place with a movie night?"

Emily's face lit up with excitement. "Now you're speaking my language, Mom. Pizza and a movie sounds like the perfect housewarming party."

And as they settled in for the evening, surrounded by laughter and love, Emily couldn't help but feel grateful for the adventure that lay ahead—and for the unwavering support of her mom by her side.

After a flurry of unpacking and arranging furniture, Emily and Veronica collapsed onto the couch, surrounded by boxes and the comforting scent of freshly delivered pizza. With the TV flickering to life, they scrolled through the movie options, debating over their choice like seasoned film critics.

"How about a classic comedy?" Veronica suggested, eyeing a selection of 80s favorites.

Emily grinned mischievously. "Nah, let's go for something with a bit more action. I'm in the mood for explosions and car chases."

Sarah chuckled, shaking her head. "Alright, action it is. But no complaints if it's too intense for you, young lady."

Emily mock-saluted her mom. "Understood, Captain Mom."

With a press of the remote, the movie began, filling the room with the sound of roaring engines and dramatic music. As they dug into their slices of pizza, laughter and commentary filled the air, punctuated by the occasional gasp or cheer at the on-screen antics.
