MI6 HQ: senior management debriefing

MI6 brought Chivalry into the fold officially shortly the untimely assassination of the Queen, parliament finally developed a thirst for blood and Chivalry was more than happy to quench it, with no oversight of course.

Chivalry being brought into the fold means that it's commanding officer code named Arthur must attend senior debriefings with all the other high ranking intelignce officers including Charles Bailey the head of Intelligence operations, even though his team were at the forefront of clandestine operations assassination was out of his departments wheelhouse.

the fact they've hated each other the moment both their careers began ensured that they would come to blows and Chivalry operations are brought out of the dark from time to time as a result.
It's not all bad, the others are smart enough not to ask what Chivalry's up to so all Arthur has to do is sit down and listen quietly.well most of the time.

"Mr Locke has your team conducted any black operations in Greece at all recently." Bailey asked, Arthur simply wanted to shoot the man for even asking such a thing but he stayed calm.
" I'm not directly involved in the black operations my department conducts I'm sure you'd understand." Arthur said casually.

"Not even when our relationship with the American's is at risk, my agents claim to have witnessed one of your 'Knights' chase a known contract killer throught Athens and eliminate him and kill a civilian in the process." Bailey said aggressively.

"But that's not all, this so called Knight infiltrated the yacht and killed the CIA's Greek station chief along with a few agents, need I remind you that they're our ally in this mess in Iran." Bailey said with even more aggression but Arthur simply lit up a cigarette.the other officers looked at Arthur including C (Chief of MI6)
"Charles do the Americans have a solid lead on who was behind the murder of their station chief." Arthur said starting at Bailey taking a drag.
"Not at this time." Bailey broke eye contact.

"Of course they don't, well if that's the case stonewall them and clean up the mess you're departments gotten good at that." Alistair grinned whilst tossing his cigarette in an ashtray.
Bailey stared at Arthur with boiling rage but there were other matters to discuss.

" What are the latest developments coming out of India ? " C asked looking at Bailey.
"Well the President is being pressured by his General's to enter the Iran war since Iran is a historic ally,If they get their way Iranian forces may utilise India's nuclear arsenal against NATO forces. We've been able to halt attempts made by Iranian scientists from developing nuclear weapons but India's are ready to go."

"My sister has begun peace talks with Indian leadership but her life's in danger, don't worry I have a solution." Alistair grabbed another cigarette
"Well I'd rather you didn't leave us hanging." C looked at him.
"The plan has two halves, I'll get Lancelot to send one of his Knights to assist the Americans with preventing the assassination. In the meantime I'll have another employee infiltrate PIne's circle who will eventually have the honour of handing the Assassin or Assasins payment for they're services. With the targets identified the Knight's job will simply consist of pulling the trigger." Arthur said confidently.

"I have one query, didn't you say Pine's people know the faces of all my agents and even most of your 'Rangers' ."
"True, but I didn't say I was sending a Ranger ,you don't need a lot of training to be a personal assistant."

Two hours later

By the time Arthur left the HQ it had started to rain, so he quickly made it to his Aston Martin DB5 and to a tailor on Savile Row. Arthur didn't want his navy peacoat or his now white hair getting wet so he put up his Lance and walked to the tailor, why he couldn't just use a regular umbrella is anyone's guess.

He entered a tailor named Gambeson, the place certainly had a warmth about it and high quality garments were everywhere.
"What can I do for you sir?"The receptionist asked, Arthur uses this entrance all the time but protocols can't be ignored.
"Just browsing for now." Arthur said raising his hand. He had a ring with the Chivalry logo.
"Ah sir we have quite a selection in the back." The receptionist said as he escorted Arthur to the secret entrance.
"The lift is much faster now." The receptionist whispered.

Arthur placed his hand on a wall and it moved to the left allowing Arthur to use the lift behind it. The wall scans the fingerprint of whoever touches it to ensure the lift isn't revealed by accident.
The receptionist wasn't kidding, all lifts to Camelot have been upgraded and he was there in under 3 minutes.

Camelot was fully furnished, it resembled a castle with it's stone walls and overall decor. There were banners with the Chivalry logo all over the place. Merlin and his mages technical knowhow definitely influenced the place, Camelot wasn't short on high tech equipment.

Everyone was surprised to see Arthur down there but they all acted like it was just another day in the office.
Arthur knocked on Lancelot's door with trepidation because he hasn't been in the best mood after a Lamarok was killed a few months ago. The death of a Knight is hardly a common occurrence, it's only ever happened on one other occasion.
Lamarok's death was a hard pill to swallow for all three remaining Knights especially Galahad who was with him that faithful day. But Lancelot treated Percival, Tristan and even Galahad like sons. Right now Lanelot is basically a grieving parent and Arthur knew it.

"Lancelot, we need to talk about Athens." Arthur said professionally.the two men had gotten used to referring to each other by their odd codenames. Lancelot had definitely aged well but he looked like like hell. His leg brace went kaput years ago but he hasn't had Merlin or any of his Mages take a look, a simple oak cane seems to get the job done these days.

His office walls weren't short of photos and accolades, one stuck out to Arthur. It was a photo of Lancelot aged 16, he'd just passed out the Royal marines. Arthur couldn't help but stare at the photo longer than the others, Just seeing the photo really brought home how young Lancelot was. He wasn't green by any means, from the little Lancelot has discussed his childhood Northern Ireland was probably a well earned vacation.

There was still something odd about seeing him in that ceremonial uniform, without the medals and epaulettes of a Warrant Officer rather just ones of a Private. Seeing the red berret of the Paras was odd as well, Arthur couldn't imagine Lancelot wearing anything but the famed sandy berret of the SAS not to mention the fact his signature beard was non existent. After looking at the 41 year old photo he thought one thing, shit we're getting old.

Who knows the last time he slept and Arthur couldn't help but notice the glass accompanied by a half empty bottle of scotch.
" I'm dealing with it." Lancelot said bluntly, it was very strange seeing Arthur down here let alone ask Lancelot about the details of black ops.
"I don't doubt it, but care to explain to me why you demned it necessary to have a CIA station chief killed." Arthur replied.

"Last time I checked this division's mission was to eliminate any and all members of the Court and their associates." Lancelot said whilst finishing his Bourbon.
"Since when did you get involved in the dirty work around here, Gunivre and her Rangers gave us the Intel and I sent a Knight to take care of it. that's how it's always worked, we do all the dirty work down here while you have a drink in some gentlemen club." Robert said with understated aggression.

"Well I didn't think I needed to babysit." Arthur replied maintaining his cool.
"That's the point you don't, if one of my sons misbehaves I'll put them on the naughty step." Lancelot said refilling his glass with more Bourbon.
" I know Galahad made a mess but trust me I'll clean it up." Lancelot said just before taking a sip.
"Make sure you do." Alistair said walking out Lancelot's office.

Lancelot looked at the photo of him back when he passed out the Royal Parachute Regiment then turned to a photo of Him and Belle at their wedding,it's one of the few photos that feature his smile. He couldn't help but play with his ring in the palm of his hand.
Then he heard a brash knock on his door.
