Chapter Four

Before I have time to process what the woman said I'm hurled onto my feet by two men. The grey-haired woman turns her head to me with a small smile on her lips. "Don't worry sweetheart we don't want to hurt you" I believe her, but I certainly don't trust her. She whispers something to one of the men then we are off. Looking up at the guards I notice they are wearing the same uniform as the guards from the chambers. I have one guard on either side of me with one hand on each shoulder pushing me along. Lights start to become brighter the further along we walk. They push me down a massive white corridor as I start to recover slowly from the shock of the siren. Lifting up my head that still thumps from the siren moments ago, I get a proper look at my surroundings. Turing my head I spot at least twenty guards in the same navy uniform marching behind me and the woman leads the way by walking in front of all of us, Taking long confident strides. We start to near the end of the corridor. Tilting my head to see past the women's head I take a look at the wall at the end of the corridor. In large block letters across the middle of the wall, It says. Alpharei research centre. For a better world

Alpharei. I know that name.

At the sight of that word a million and one questions crash into my head, as it thumps in pain, even more, my heart beats uncontrollably against my chest. What the hell is going on? This is becoming more and more perplexing. All the guards except the two holding me by the arms march away in unison in the opposite direction to me. The two guards and the woman take me up a white flight of stairs. Once up the stairs, We make our down a white corridor that has loads of numbered doors just like a hotel. The woman yanks out some keys out of her suit pocket as we stop outside the sixth door. She pushes her keys into the lock. Her sickly pale handshaking. Almost as if she is... Scared.
She pushes the door open and a small plain room is exposed with a bed with no cover shoved to the side of the wall and a desk on the other side. "Gaia dear, please take a seat on the bed" Ignoring the fact that she magically knows my name I follow her instructions. She follows me in and shuts the door. Pulling out a chair from under the desk she sits on it and places her pale hands on her lap. "You must be wondering what on earth is going on" An unexpected chuckle escapes from my mouth as I raise my eyebrows at her. "Just the tiniest bit, it is not every day your kidnapped and forced to watch people get slaughtered " I spit back, venom lacing my tongue. Her mouth parts like she's about to speak but then clamps it shut. "Well, I'm sure you will fill me in though miss" I shoot sweetly. She needs to trust me, I don't trust anything about this strange place and I need to get out as soon as possible. She tilts her head and smiles at me " Of course my dear Gaia" She takes a large gulp. "well someone has been looking for you for a very long time because my dear you are the girl with no..." I raise my eyebrows at her
"No what?"
"No colour" I squint my eyes lifting up my arm pointing at the chip,
"I have a colour mine is red" She sighs pursing her lips and tilting her head sympathetically"Well you see, that's a fake chip so it looks like to other people that you have a colour when you don't " This is absolutely preposterous, everyone has a chip.

Yet. I have survived for three years completely by myself. And never once has a Wendigo tried to attack me.

"That explains why I have never been hunted" I mutter coldly, letting the realisation that this woman might be telling the truth to sink into my head. The woman offers me a smile "I'm Susan Crawford by the way" She says confidently. Smiling sweetly at her, I push my self off the bed to stand up. Susan stands up and walks over to the door. "I will be back in ten minutes I just have to sort something out, but when I'm back you will be meeting someone that has been looking for you for five years" She says as if it is something to be excited about. Giving me one quick nod she walks out of the room, more questions storm into my mind. Why are they doing this, why would they allow innocent teenagers just to be brutally murdered like that? My blood boils my skin steaming like a kettle. How could they do this? I can't stay here with these monsters, not with all that they have done. Who has been looking for me why don't they want to see me? I don't think I wont to find out. I have to get out of here, maybe I can go out back through the chambers.
