Hello, my name is Don Easton. I was a member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police for twenty-five years and worked as an undercover operative over a span of twenty years. It often meant living and working out of apartments in cities where few police officers knew my identity. I lived with contracts on my life and saw the fear on my wife's face when new contracts were issued. It meant sleeping with a loaded gun within arms reach and teaching my children to call out at night when they went to the washroom so they wouldn't be shot by mistake. This is what I call undercover. I often worked alone and seldom carried a gun when I was with the bad guys. Survival was dependent upon my wits ... and at times luck.

I've written a series called the Jack Taggart Murder Mystery series. It's about an undercover RCMP officer attached to an Intelligence Unit in Vancouver. Dundurn Press published my first novel in the series, Loose Ends, in 2005. My 13th and final novel in the series, The Grey Zone, has now been released.

To introduce people to my series, the first five chapters of Loose Ends will be available to read on Wattpad. It will give you a sense of my writing style ... and hopefully entice you to purchase the rest of my work!

My novels in order are: Loose Ends, Above Ground, Angel in the Full Moon, Samurai Code, Dead Ends, Birds of a Feather, Corporate Asset, The Benefactor, Art and Murder, A Delicate Matter, Subverting Justice, An Element of Risk and The Grey Zone. They are available through normal book outlets.

WARNING: My novels are not for the faint of heart. They are gritty, realistic and in places violent. Particularly the first chapter of the first novel! I tend to tell it like it is. Numerous professional reviews that applaud my work carry a common theme - the writing clearly depicts a realism that could only be achieved through real-life experiences and was clearly written by someone who has looked into the eyes of murderers and victims alike.

Thanks, Sal. It's a very different style of writing when you've actually done what you write about. Hope you enjoy it.Don
