Payal opened the nursery, and moved towards the bassinet. Rita aunty, buddy and khushi followed.
Payal - tum milo muskaan se mughe kaam hai mai abhi aayi. (You meet muskaan I have some work so I will leave)
Khushi - kya hua jiji, aap aise kyun ho? Aap naraz ho humse? (What happened jiji why are like this, are u upset with me?)
Payal smiled mechanically and looked into khushi's eyes.
Her eyes scared khushi, they were blank.
Payal- nahi khushi aisa kuch nahi hai. Mai abhi aayi. (No khushi it's nothing I will just come.)
Payal walked away. Khushi looked at rita aunty.
Rita aunty- beta waqt de usse. (Give her time)
Khushi nodded and turned towards the bassinet. A cute little baby girl was asleep. She smiled at her. Buddy got hyper and started jumping to look at the creature who had khushi's attention. Before he barks khushi picked him up and showed muskan. Buddy wanted to kiss her but khushi controlled him.
Khushi- sshhhhhh buddy she is sleeping.
Khushi kept buddy down and took out a box from her purse. It was a chain with a pendant M she bought for her this morning. She was about to put it on her but stopped.
Rita aunty observed her.
Rita aunty - kya hua pehna de usse ruk kyun gayyi? (Why did u stop make her wear it)
Khushi - kissi ko bura laga toh. Mera koi haq nahi hai. (What if someone objects, I have no right)
The whole family was standing at the door and heard that. Everyone felt so ashamed. Arnav teared up. His heart taunted him, this is what you wanted right to push her far far away, why are you upset now what for, he was about to say something when he heard Rita aunty.
Rita aunty - ek kaam kar shashi ji ko de de ye pendant, woh anjali ko de denge.
Khushi smiled and was about to keep the pendant back when muskaan woke up and started crying. Khushi immediately picked her up and started cradling her. Muskaan saw the shiny pendant in khushi's hand and grabbed it, and started playing with it. The family entered.
Anjali - arrey wah muskaan ko aapka tohfa achha laga khushiji. Ab aap pehna bhi do usse. (Muskaan liked your gift, now make her wear it)
Khushi passed muskaan to anjali and made muskaan wear it.
Khushi smiled.
Rita aunty took out some money from her purse and kept it in muskaan's bassinet.
Anjali- isski kya zaroorat hai (what's the need for this)
Rita aunty - shagun hai
Khushi kept muskaan in the bassinet.
Khushi - babuji ka appointment kab hai?
Arnav - 4 baje shayaam ko.
Khushi looked at her watch it was only 11 am.
Khushi- mai babuji k pass jati hu.
Rita aunty - beta hotel chale lunch karke wapas aa jayenge?
Payal - khana yahin kha lijeyga pls.
Since it was payal Rita aunty didn't refuse.
Everyone reached the dining area in silence. Buddy jumped and sat on The Asr chair, khushi was left shocked . Rita aunty was sure she would now see his famous temper that khushi mentioned. But surprisingly he smiled.
Khushi- sorry, mai abhi utarti hun.
Arnav- rehne do let him sit.
Khushi was surprised as well. Then she looked around everyone taking their seats mechanically and this eerie silence prevailing. Why is everyone so so lost khushi wondered. This is not the place she left. This was not shantivan. Why has it changed so much. Why are they not happy, why hasn't arnav moved on. Why is jiji akashji, anjali ji, mamiji and mamaji so quiet, why is nani looking so defeated. She sat down and looked at everyone. She needs to do something.
