"What do you mean they won't let us know anything?" I heard Joyce ask the nurse at reception as I sat in the waiting room shaking
They found Mekai's body in some old abandoned building right around the corner from our old cabin. They said he was barely breathing, if they'd gotten there a few minutes later, he'd be dead.
"Sweetie they're not telling us anything yet. Why don't you call your mom and check on the twins? I'm sure-" I tuned her out, thinking about the first time I sat in the hospital with Mekai.
He was trying to commit suicide and sent off to Oakwood institution. I got him back that time, this time could be different.
"Mrs. Andrews?" An officer approached me and Joyce
"Yes?" We answered in unison
"With all due respect Kyla, I think he was talking to me." She nodded for the officer to continue
I scoffed at her, not having the energy to argue.
"Well it concerns you both actually." The officer started talking again "It seems Olivia has fled the scene, possibly the state. We have eyes out for her-"
"Why won't this bitch jus' dieee?" I groaned, flopping back in my chair
"Ma'am you can't really say stuff like that in front of me." The officer nervously chuckled
I sat up, blankly staring at him "What? Wish the bitch that's making my life hell was dead?" I stood up
"Give us a moment, officer." Joyce grabbed my hand, signaling me to sit back down
He nodded and walked off
"Joyce, all my respect that's due is finna go out the window. Let go of me." I controlled my breathing, zoning out again

"Eddie, this is the last time I'll be coming to see you." I adjusted my wig and fake glasses
I had to change my appearance as best as I could until I leave the country for good. Good thing I have fake IDs and passports on standby. I've been waiting for this moment since Calvin was killed. I can finally live in peace knowing I got my revenge.
"What? You said you'd bail me out, then we'd leave." He gritted his teeth on the other side of the glass

"I've done a really bad thing Eddie, I can't stay." I whispered, holding the phone tightly
"Liv, we're supposed to go away together darling. Remember? Live out our dreams...if you run away without me how can we do that?"

I really don't have long to stay here and baby him, I'm sure the police have eyes out for me everywhere.
"Olivia listen to me, I swear I'll make your life hell if you leave me in here." He glared at me
"Just because your life is hell doesn't mean I have to suffer. I got my satisfaction." I shrugged "Listen, I gotta go. It's been fun." I stood up, hanging up the phone
"Liv" he stood up, beating on the glass "Olivia!" I heard him scream as I exited the visiting room, readjusting my disguise

"Family of Mekai Andrews." The doctor exited the operating room
Joyce, Clint, and I stood up.
"Is my baby alive?" Joyce asked "Please tell me he's ok."
"We did everything we could."
My world stopped, my mouth got dry. I heard Joyce begin to cry as Clint comforted her.
"What- What" I couldn't form my sentence as I felt my heartbeat sped up
"There was lot of bleeding, we were able to stop it but I'm afraid Mekai won't be able to play in the nationals."
"Huh?" We asked in confusion
"Yeah, he got some pretty bad damage to his knee and-"
"Wait, so he's alive?"
"Oh, yes! He's alive...it's just sad, he was a really great football player, had a great career ahead of him." The doctor shook his head
I squinted in disgust at his horrible delivery "What room is my husband in?"
"Oh, room 129" he smiled before I pushed pass him rudely
"You a jackass, man. Really" I heard Clint say as I rushed to Mekai's room
When we got there, he was sitting up in a daze.
"Baby" I felt like I could breathe again
"I look pretty bad, huh?" He chuckled
"I thought I lost you..." tears filled my eyes
"Come here." He grabbed my hand, pulling me in for a kiss

"Excuse me." I said as I walked thru the aisle of the plane
I'm finally free. I got my revenge, I'm about to have the life I always dreamed of, I just wish my son was here. I know he's watching over me though.
"Hi, I believe you're in my seat." I said to the person sitting in seat 2A
"Oh my apologies." The lady looked at her ticket before moving one seat over.
I smiled and sat beside her, getting comfortable for my long flight.
"You look so familiar, I feel like I've seen you before." She stared
"I have a twin, maybe you've run into her before Small world, ya know." I lied, grinning
I put in my headphones as I prepared for the plane to take off.
