An emotion incapable of being described in words, but just an endless abyss of feeling absolutely nothing.

A feeling which makes the heart tremble from within, yet allow to remain calm at the outside giving away nothing.

A feeling which surrounds an endless everlasting suffocation not taking a moment to cease within, but the face displays nothing.

A feeling which keeps the eyes open, staring and watching everything, yet seeing clearly nothing.

A feeling, which leaves one numb incapable of feeling anything, but just the pain and thoughts in repeat of everything.

A feeling of exactly the sorts Karan was experiencing, as he stood emotionless staring at himself in the mirror adjusting his tie, getting himself ready for the long-awaited farewell day.

Tears still shining afresh in his gloomy, tired eyes, seemingly undried even after a night spent entirely in crying, leaving dull, soft patches of dark circles visible underneath. As he blinked, captivated, a lone tear escaped his eyes while he watched his own reflection in the mirror.

He was suited up in all black, donning a crisp, white formal shirt beneath a slim-fit, custom-tailored black tuxedo jacket. His look was completed with finely tailored black chino pants and a pair of brand-new black Oxford shoes. A large-dial black watch encircled his wrist, providing the perfect final touch to his elegant farewell attire.

He was dressed in the exact outfit he had eagerly awaited and planned wearing for so long for this exact day. Yet today, it all felt tasteless, utterly devoid of all the happy emotions he had once expected, having him recall his words he had confidently said to Aditi just a few days earlier

"You'll see a new me, a whole new me on the day of farewell, just wait for it"

Those words now echoed through his memory, vivid and clear, prompting him to imagine her reflection in the mirror, smiling back at him gently, meeting his eyes replying with an almost inaudible voice

"I'm waiting"

Tears streamed down his cheeks at the recall of her words, each tear heavy with the weight of memories and the promises he was on the verge of breaking. His heart felt unbearably heavy, the pain sharp and acute, a stark reminder of the joy that had once been but now felt like a distant echo in the hollows of his aching chest, as he now faced the impending realization of just how much would change after today.

And while he was lost in his trance, just then, the door of his room flung open snapping him out of his reverie. He quickly turned his head in the opposite direction, swiftly wiping the tears off his face as his mom's voice echoed

"I've been calling you forever, why aren't you --- responding", the last word barely made it out of her lips, as the sight of her son dressed like a fine gentlemen left her in awe, and her mouth agape having her remark

"Woaahh, look who's stealing all the hearts today!"

Her words attracted no reaction from Karan, whose smile had long dried up, sucking up all the tears, having him just snicker at her remark completely expressionless with no hint of excitement whatsoever.

"It's time, I shall leave already", he announced flatly brushing past her shoulder, moving downstairs swiftly while his mother asked in a hurry

"Breakfast?"

"Don't want it", he replied dismissively not caring to look back.

His cold reply having her run behind him, but by the time she reached the doorway, Karan was already on his cycle, making his way out of the gate. A tear slid down her cheek as she whispered to herself
