"kansas!" waylon yells, and i look up as he, rudy, and chase run into the kitchen of our air bnb, all with huge smiles on their faces.

"can i help you?" i ask, waylon nodding happily.

"can we rent bikes and ride them to the boardwalk?" he asks, and i raise my eyebrows.

"why are you talking to me like i'm your guys' mommy, i literally don't care." i deadpan. "you interrupted my train of thought."

"whatcha thinking about?" rudy asks, sitting next to me oddly closely as i furrow my brows.

"okay, what is going on?" i ask, standing up as all three of them look at me blankly. "why are you acting like children?"

"it's what we do best." chase said with a shrug, to which i shook my head.

"no, no, this is more than usual. so one of you tell me what's going on or i'll reschedule all your return flights to tomorrow."

"maddie told us you like chase." waylon said without hesitation. i tried to keep my face straight, just my jaw hung slack as i glanced over at chase, who was staring at the floor while kicking his feet back and forth.

"dude, the one condition- don't. tell. kansas." rudy said annoyedly to waylon, who shrugged.

"i'm the youngest, snitching is what i do." he said flatly, to which i nodded.

"yeah he's got a point there." i reply. "i hate you all."

"apparently not chase." rudy says quickly, before all three of them sprint away from the kitchen to the front door.
