one day
the girl with broken limbs
realised that she had wings
written into her skin
flowing in her veins.

she realised
that her path to healing
was in her name.
•
and like she'd always known
it occurred to her
that forgetting herself,
the name she was given
and her identity for living
stripped her of her wings
and broke her limbs.
•
that her wings
were hers to own
if only
she had known.
