2. Sleep Over

Rachel, do you know where Azazel is?

"I do but you can't go there."

Why the fuck not?

"After all this time you still don't know do you?"

Know what!

"The world is doomed if you're seriously this dense. You're the key to Eden, why do you think that soul eater attacked you?"

How was supposed to know?

"We're all going to die."

Why?!

"Because you're an idiot!"

I'm not an idiot it takes me a while to get things.

"Whatever makes you sleep at night."

Rachel! Help me get out of here!

"I can't you're the key you have to spend at least one night in Eden before departing."

Why?

"I don't make the rules."

"Just hang low and make it through the night. And stay outside the line of sight of the other angels, you're not supposed to be here."

I watch as The Light walks around the garden and then comes to a stop.

"Ezekiel descend." He commands.

Zeke descends, softly taking a knee before God in the grass.

Rachel!

"What!"

Look! His wings...they're pure white with silver tips...and his eyes... they're silver.

"Yes girl, I know."

Why didn't you tell me?

"There was no need to describe Ezekiel before his fall. And his wings are capable of being pure silver but that's only when they're armored."

"You've called."

"Stand, child."

Ezekiel stands and awaits the next command.

"Did locate your partner?"

"Yes."

"Are you happy with her?"

"Of course, I am. She chose me."

"So she isn't aware of you being soulmates?"

"No, Father."

"Do you think I should give Azazel and Castiel a partner?"

"Azazel has betrayed heaven he shouldn't have one."

Everyone deserves love, maybe that's why he acts out.

"Now Ezekiel, you were raised to be forgiving."

"Forgiving? He warred against his own, he never thought he was one of us anyway!"

He didn't think he was one of them? They're all angels, right?

"It was a while before you came to be Ezekiel, it was an adjustment."

Was Zeke alive during the so-called "first trial"?

"Defending your enemies is a sure way to find yourself dead."

"You worry yourself too much."

God seems loving, so why did he abandon us? What was the purpose of running to Eden?

" I don't think you worry enough, old man."

Zeke takes off and the sun starts to set.

Where am I going to sleep?

"Bitch it's a garden, they ain't many choices to choose from other than bush or tree."

I know.

"So bush one or bush two, girl? "

"It's not my fault Eden ain't a five-star hotel."

Seeing that the coast was clear I chose a tree to sleep under. The sun sets for the day and I begin to shiver.

It's unbearably cold here, how the fuckAdam and Eve survive this?

"Their bodies were made for this."

I'm gonna die if we don't start a fire.

"If you start a fire, you'll draw attention."

A presence from behind wraps its arms around me and heats my body. I jump back and see what the presence is.

Azazel.

"You're cold." He holds his arms out to reach for me and I step back.

"So."

"I wouldn't want a lady to freeze." He tries to reach for me again.

The Azazel I was fighting must've not caught up me, yet. Unless he's playing innocent here.

"I thought you hated humans."

"You aren't like them."

"How do you know?"

"A human is incapable of breaking into Eden without the key."

"Who says I don't have the key?"

He breaks into a smile and chuckles. "If you had the key and were a human the gate to Eden would've been destroyed." He remains still for a few moments and I watch slowly as his brows tangle. "Which brings me to the question what are you and how did you get in?"
