"I can't believe that we're going back already..."

A h/c haired girl looks at her cat with a small pout as they walk through the Hogwarts Express

"We haven't even gotten there yet, and I already want to go home :("

She sighs as her e/c eyes wander through the windows of the compartment doors. Although she wouldn't call herself early, she had come early enough for most of the compartments to be left empty. It may have pained her to leave her house earlier than she could have, but just the thought of having to ask someone if she could sit with them sent shivers down her spine. Talk about embarrassing-

"Oh well, at least I have you, right c/n?"

"Meow! :D"

The cat rubbed his face against the side of her leg gently and let out a lazy purr as the two walked toward the end of the Hogwarts Express. Throughout the two years she had previously spent at the school, she had unravelled many of the secrets that the castle held. By many of the secrets, she meant all the places that required minimal human interaction- basically places that not many people would know of or would bother visiting

One of the many secret spots had been on the Hogwarts Express. Although there wasn't ever a compartment on the train that was left empty, she found that the carts near the end of the train were always left quite deserted. Naturally, those who sat near the end of the train would be the last ones to get off and see the castle, so most of the younger students would rush to get a seat near the front instead. Most of the time, the people who stayed in the compartments near the end were those trying to catch a quick nap before they arrived or older students who didn't want to deal with the squealing first years. It may have been an eerily quiet and unwelcoming place for other people, but Y/n had found this the perfect place to enjoy the silence of her own company.  And c/n's of course

When they entered the last cart, Y/n gulped and crossed her fingers as they neared her usual spot, feeling the familiar sense of jitters she always gets whenever she has to go aboard the train

"Please nobody be there, please nobody be there, please nobody be there-"

She slowly peered through the window of the compartment and sighed in relief when no one was there. she had been worrying over nothing per usual. Of course nobody would- wait a damn minute

Double taking the window in front of her, she stared down at her own reflection

'oh crap'

"M-my earring! Where did it go?!" Seeing that the earring on her left ear was missing, she frantically whips her head around trying to see if she had dropped it anywhere near, "I-It's not here!.. and that was a gift from my father too..!"

It also didn't help that the earrings had belonged to her father's mother, who had gotten it from her mother, who had also gotten it from her mother's mother, who had gotten it from her father's grandmother-

Y/n curled up into a ball and started sulking in the corner

"How am I ever going to face them now!? I've brought dishonour!! Dishonour on our family! Dishonor on me! Dishonor on my cow!!"

C/n stared at the crying girl before sitting in front of her and patting her head, or at least attempting to anyways

"Meow meow!" (there there Y/n, I'll go look around the train! Don't cry!)

"huh?" she looks at her cat and even more tears start to well up in her eyes "C/n..."

"Meow?"

"What did I ever do to deserve a cat like you?" she snuffles as she stands up, shaking her head vigorously to get rid of her tears. Phew! You know, that would have been super embarrassing if anyone had come in and saw her curled up in the corner crying like a baby, glad we dodged that one am I right-
