On Hallows Eve,
Past a spur of hapless revelry,
I drew my final breath.
None but moon, wind and tree
Witnessed the hour of my death.Pierced by glaring lights,
Screech of metal, shards of glass.
Broken, my red-drenched shell
Awaited respite as the seconds pass.
But never did it come, the death knell.Distant bells toll, calling lost souls
In endless wanderings to their berth.
Though I wandered, in the in-between,
Neither heaven, hell, nor earth,
Neither lost nor sought, I remained unseen. In terror's wake,
Shadowed hands clutch black and dark.
Gaping sockets in hollowed faces
Ravenous for that smallest spark,
Tucked within my empty spaces.Grappling the shadows
I fought against the dying light,
Hope dwindling with muted cries.
The road stretched, no end in sight,
As dark wings shroud the crimson skies.A voice, faint yet sure,
Pierced the throes of ebbing thought.
There my beloved stood, long lost,
As bright as the days I sought.
Toward that shining light I crossed. Two souls linger,
As the death knell tolls with unheard dings.
Neither heaven nor earth did grieve,
But on a certain night our laughter rings—
On a night like Hallows Eve.
