"Oni, what you on?" Adrian smirked, licking his lips. He called Onyx by her nickname, which is what everyone called her
"Boy, please. I'm not on shit but the earth." A fifteen year old Onyx waved him off, walking with her best friend, Hali
"You be tryna act hollywood." Adrian said, sucking his teeth
A lot of the boys would describe her as "hollywood", she never cared about it though. She felt like none of the boys that hit on her were worth her time
They were either hoes, too flashy, too bummy, too ugly, or just all around "weird" as she would describe them
The one she hated the most were the ones that would "put on" as she would call it. The ones that lied about what they had going on were the worse to her

"They good, I have a C in math but it should be up by the end of this quarter." She assured her mother
Onyx was 17 and in her junior year of high school, her GPA was already high, at a 3.7 so she didn't really care. She would raise the grade just for her mom though
"Okay, baby. I'm proud of you either way." Her mom smiled, rubbing her arm
"Thank you, mama. Ima have that grade up for you." She assured, her mom had hope in her and always supported her so that made her want to make her mom happy
"Okay." Her mother smiled
Aliyah wondered off to her bedroom that she shared with her husband, Onyx's step dad whom was her father figure
They often made jokes of him being "the father that stepped up". Aside from the jokes, it was true. Onyx very well knew who her dad was, but if someone asked, her dad was Kobe
Onyx favored Kobe so no one ever questioned it, the only one who knew that he wasn't her biological dad was Hali
Hali was a real friend, she wouldn't dare tell anyone or try to bring her down for Kobe not being her real dad
Hali loved Onyx and that feeling was a thousand percent mutual
