This book is the novel based on my ONC novella La Candidate. I plotted both simultaneously. La presidente can be read as a standalone. Due to the story's length and storyline, I consider La Candidat(e) more as a prequel.
My ONC isn't popular, but it can be helpful if you want to know the character's back story.
Please keep in mind that I don't know much about politics. I used my high school and college memories to remember the makeup of French politics. Thus, I will not go into in-depth explanations of the political turfs. The situations are fictional. Genre-wise, it's a chick lit. Yes, it might be challenging to believe, but it's true.
The story doesn't explore popular themes and verticals, but I wanted to write something different. It feels good to take a break from my usual dramedies.
