Chapter 1: The beginning of the end

Cheri POV:

"That would be 105 pesos ma'am, please enjoy you meal!" The cashier lady smiled politely as she packed my food.

"Here, keep the change. Thank you!" I replied to her. Nag lakad na'ko papunta sa isang bakanteng upuan malapit sa pinto para maka-kain na 'ko.

Ako si Cheri Ataraxia , Gra-graduate na ako sa Senior High at sawakas at tu-tungtong na ako sa kolehiyo. Na-alala ko pa noon, bini-bilang 'ko sa kalendaryo para malaman 'ko kung ilang taon na lang before ako tumuntong sa kolehiyo.

"hmm...Ang sarap naman 'to." I said to myself as i deavored my lasagna. I didn't expect na ganito ang lasa nito kasi galing lang sa convience store e, i guess not bad for 70 pesos. I might bought it once again, not now though.

As I eat my lasagna, I suddenly heard a sharp notification sound coming from my phone. I recieved a notification from my email account.

Oh, shit. It's THAT time.

I am literally screaming internally, my hands are shaking, i can hear my heartbeat and my breath starting to get heavier.

"Buk-buksan 'ko ba 'to or hindi? Buk-buksan? wag na lang? AaaAaaAaAaa!" I said to my self as i contemplating on what to do.

Sige na nga, titignan 'ko na yung College exam result. Kung pumasa ako, edi congrats, kung hindi, atleast i tried. College exam is always our first rejection naman e, also baka this is not meant for me and may mas better pang i-o-offer sa'kin.

I keep convincing myself and assuring na okay lang kahit ano pa man ang magiging result, tuloy parin ang buhay.

I took a deep breath as i check the email. I smiled bitterly.

"Thank you." ayan ang nakita 'ko sa email.

"huy! ano ka'ba, okay lang yon. Bakit ka nag t-thank you? 'Di naman masakit hehe." I said as a joke, Pang palubag-loob ganun hahaha.

I can feel my tears seeping to the corner of my eyes. Well, this is it. This is the reality. It hurts pero ano pa bang magagawa 'ko? di ako nakapasa haha.

I packed up and cleaned my table kasi i practiced the "Clay-Go". I'm trying to move on kasi until now, 'di 'ko pa rin tanggap ang naging result. Saan ba ako nagkulang? I did my best naman, nag laan 'din ako ng time para mag self review.

I guess di pa rin siya enough. There would always be someone better at things you thought you did your best.

I walk and walked until i reached the crossing. Suddenly, a little kid dash thru on my left side. Running to the middle of the highway and suddenly, a huge white truck appeared. I just couldn't watch the kid die, right? So, I did what i had to do. I run to the kid and push her to the other side.

But then, I saw a bright light, it's hurting eyes. The lights are coming from the truck. I felt the forced throughout my body coming from the truck. It freaking hurts, A LOT. I saw how my memories throughout my life flashed thru my eyes.

"I guess this is the end, huh. well, I enjoy it." I said to myself, accepting my death.

As i reminiscing my life, a tall dark man appeared in front of me. He asked me

"What do you regret in your life?" I'm baffled on what he said. Regret? May pinagsisihan ba ako?

"whoever you are, wala akong pinagsisihan." I answered to him.

"Don't lie. You are now in your death bed, tapos may gana ka pang magsinungaling?" He replied to me.

What did i regret? hmm...

"Thank you"

AH! a memory flashed thru me. my biggest regret is 'di ako nakapasa sa dream school 'ko. 'Di man lang ako nakapag college.

"I-" He cut me.

"I know, that's why i'm here to grant your wish." He said to me then i felt my body floating in the air then vanished.

OMG, totoo ba 'to? I slap and slapped my self real hard.

Then i remembered what that man said.

"I'll grant your wish"

I hastly clicked the notification and to my suprise, hindi na "Thank you" and narecieved 'ko kundi "Congrats" AAAAA

Nakapasa ako!

then, everything stopped and the man appeared before me.

"Are you satisfied now?" He asked.

"Yes! More than ever, Thank you!" I replied to him.

"Then i wished you good luck, may you met people who would cherish you truly" He said to me.

I cried a little

I hop and walked. Nag mu-mukha akong tanga kasi naka ngiti ako habang naglalakad, pero kahit sino naman matutuwa kung binigyan ka nang chance, diba?

I reached the crossing once again, and somehow i didn't see the kid behind be but rather in front of me! To be exact, nasa gitna na siya nang daan!

I don't know what happen, i just know na kusang kumilos katawan ko para muling sagipin ang bata then nabangga ako ulit nang truck.

[Ting/*]

I notification popped once again from my phone but this time, it's from my calendar. I couldn't read it kasi nang lalabo na ang mata ko, nahihilo ako, nawawalan nang lakas ang katawan ko, and cold spread throughout my body.

He onced again appread infront of me.

"It's time, just closed your eyes." He said to me as i felt his palm touched my eyes and he whispered

"Happy birthday."

Ah, it's my birthday. Now i remembered, that's the reason why i bought lasagna.

I'm now officially 18.

I smiled and i felt my body vanished.
