Mabel was chopping vegetables when she heard her maa call. She was startled by her call that she ended up slicing a finger. Blood dripped profusely out of the deep cut. Paying no heed to it, she decided to see maa.
"Maa, you called?"
"Did you get hurt somewhere? " Her family could somehow always sense when she was injured.
"Nothing much, just a slight cut."
"Baby girl, you should be careful. Now, come along, let's fix it. " Her mother could not help but be concerned about her pup. Though she was not a kid anymore but their daughter meant the world to herself and Cedric.
Mabel just followed her mother silently, knowing her family's protective nature when it came to her.
"Maa, when will Aid, Theo and Leo be here? " Mabel couldn't help but ask. Though her elder brothers had been attending university for quite some time, she still felt lonely without their usual cheery selves. They were so protective over her that they wouldn't let her befriend a guy, not that she herself could approach someone on her own. She had been very shy ever since she was a kid. Her family's protectiveness over her did not help the situation.
As if on cue, she heard the doorbell ring and she knew it was her brothers. Unable to control the happiness of meeting her brothers after a long time, she ran off to the door to open it. Just as she opened the door, she found herself in the comforting arms of her eldest brother Aiden. She sensed unshed tears in her eyes when she saw all three of them. She was 14 when all of them left all of a sudden. Despite being with her parents, she missed their presence.
"Do you guys not love me anymore?" She couldn't help but question her brothers. She hadn't seen them for the past 3 years and now when they were here, she couldn't control her emotions.
"Of course we missed you baby girl but we couldn't leave due to work obligations. " Her brothers missed her just as much she missed them, if not any more. How could they not miss the baby they had loved and taken care of ever since they were kids.
Deciding to not to be emotional at the moment, she swallowed back her tears and once again hugged all her brothers tight, trying to make up for all those lost years.
"How about a siblings day tomorrow? It isn't possible to revive all those years, but we can always make more memories"
Her brothers somehow always knew how to lift her spirits up. For them, her happiness and well being was the topmost priority.
Excited, Mabel starting skipping to her Mom and dad to tell them about the news. She looked so happy that Cedric and Olivia couldn't help but adore their baby girl. They couldn't thank the moon goddess enough for letting Mabel come into their lives. Her eyes always twinkled when she talked about something she loved dearly.
Mabel spent the rest of the day with her brothers. The next day, she got ready quickly for her brothers and rushed down the stairs. They laughed at her eagerness to spend time with them. At the same time, it warmed their hearts as to how happy their sister was to spend time with them.
Soon, they were off to the carnival on the other side of the city. They had a super fun day , when she heard growls that seemed to be coming from a far distance. She turned to her brothers and they looked sorta nervous.
"Did you hear the sound too?" She asked them. But, they quickly shook their heads in negative.
"Bellie, it's been along day. I think we should head back now." Leo said.
The exhaustion had started kicking in and she found herself agreeing with her brothers. "Alright but I need to use the washroom first. Can you guys please wait here?"
"Sure but make it quick and don't wander off, make it quick."
The washrooms were at the back of the carnival. She quickly did her business when she again heard the growls again. Though she was scared, she felt a part of her wanting to see the source of the sound herself. Forgetting her brother's previous command, she started moving closer to the woods where the sound came from.
