It pained me to say those words. I couldn't look him in the eye. I knew he'd be crying.

Monokuma laughed as he said, "Wowie! Didn't think such a helpless kid like him could kill a man!" he said, emphasizing the word kill.

"I-I didn't m-mean to!" Kokichi muttered between sobs.

"Whatever, little shit!" Miu yelled. "Just kill him already!" she said to Monokuma.

"Stop this!" Kirumi said. "Please...don't kill him.."

"How could you, Kokichi?!" Maki screamed. "He was my best friend!"

One by one, everyone either scolded or protected him, but sadly we had to come to the conclusion that he killed Kaito. There was really no other way to put it.

"Monokuma," I said. His head shot over to me. "Got a problem, kid?" he asked.

"Yes, actually, I do." I said sternly. "I have no doubt that Kokichi was the one who killed Kaito.." I looked over to Kokichi and saw him staring at the floor blankly. "...but he was just protecting himself. He had no choice. Kaito was going to kill him."

"Ah, who cares! I've had a situation similar to this before, with a certain 11037! But, y'know, he's still gonna die~!" Monokuma said.

"I-I DON'T WANNA DIE!! PLEASE!! DON'T HURT ME!!" Kokichi yelled, as he fell to his knees. It took every bone in my body to not run over to him and comfort him.

"Shut your pie hole, kid!" Monokuma said. "You're not gonna change my mind!"

*Bang!*

"K-Kirumi?!"

Kirumi had stomped on the bear, making him shatter into millions of pieces.

"There. Now that has been taken care of." she said daintily, wiping off her dress.

"Kirumi, no! Now Monokuma will—!" Tenko said, but got cut off. Monokuma suddenly popped back up and stabbed a spear right through Kirumi's chest.

We all stared on in silence.

"....Well..." Miu said. "This... is all that rat's fault," she said quietly, pointing at Kokichi. He sniffled and hid his head in his arms.

"You gonna kill him or not?!" Maki yelled, now even more angry than before.

"What ever reason would I have to do that?" Monokuma asked.

"He killed Kaito, you stupid bear!"

"Yeah, but he gave me an excuse to kill a student without reason, so I'll spare him. He made my day."

I let out a sigh of relief. I never knew I was holding my breath until now.

Kokichi perked his head up, seeming happy he wasn't going to die, but he still looked very anxious. I guess that's just his new—or old—personality.

After a long time of Maki and Monokuma bickering, Monokuma let us go back to our rooms. On the elevator, Kokichi fell asleep. I don't know how he managed to do it standing up, but he was leaning against my shoulder, sound asleep.
